Yeah, there are always loads of odds and ends left over. I have a box of tiny miscellaneous bits.

Could you actually get the minifig there? It usually goes for about £40 on ebay :shifty:

Yep. I'd imagine that price will plummet after the weekend though as I can imagine ebay will be flooded with them. I guess the cost was higher before as they were only available at US shows.

If they are small pieces, yes, that's normal. :)

They've done that since forever, but does anyone know why? Is it just predicting that these are the little fiddly pieces so it's more cost effective to stick extra ones in the box than having to send out replacements when people call up and say they had pieces missing?

I have always guessed that it's done on weight.

The packs are filled by robots, the little pieces don't weigh enough to register so sometimes 2 will be enough for the robot to know it has the part to put in the bag.

Whether that's true though I don't know.

Rex Kramer wrote:Brick Live was lots of fun, collected the cards for the free Green Arrow dimensions character was crazy at times. They'd be mad not to do that again next year for something similar as it worked really well. There was a cool Fairy Bricks mosaic thing happening as well that was free and took a decent amount of time (you got given a bag of lego, a baseplate and instructions and you had to make a section of the larger mosaic). Quite a decent amount to do, well worth £20 each. Not sure Premium would have been worth the extra cash though, forgot to ask someone what they got in their goodie bag. Definitely going again next year.

Also got asked what presents the grand kids wanted for Christmas so managed to order up two sets along with the train power stuff and got double VIP points and the advent freebie. Result!

I think the equivalent thing at the London one was giant Minecraft. We also got great limited edition Batman movie minifigs, with some sort of armour.

Yeah you always seem to get the odd spare bit here and there.

I Googled this the other day as I was wondering about it myself and popular opinion suggests that the bags are packed by weight so a few extra odds and ends tend to end up in the bags.

I consider them spares resulting from some kind of tolerance. You sometimes end up with literally 1 piece that is either the wrong colour or missing so I don't think they check it manually.

We built this at the weekend.

Was really strawberry floating tedious, we still have three more to do as we have that many complete minifig sets.

We had a few guides for doing it, I'm quite happy with how it came out, two characters are missing "tails" as they would not fit in, dread to think how I'm doing series 16 as there are a lot of bulky figs in that one.

Looks great. Only thing I would add is a little more space at the bottom, called a weight in framing. :)

It's currently £200 at Smyths

You can also get £20 off for spending over £100 until the end of today, (Code TS20) so you can effectively get it for £180

Plus 3% cashback via topcashback, you're looking at £175

That's more like it!

Or you can buy it for £179.97 from Asda...

It's a shame there aren't 24 unique models, but I think some of them look quite cute. Better than a kick in the chops. :D

I like the mini train model in the pack, but I can make that myself with random parts I have. Plus the Christmas train already comes with a lot of those kind of minitures

Incase anyone is looking at it, Smyths Toys are doing the Lego Porsche 911 GT3 RS for £199.99 instead of the standard £249.99 price.

The company worked with Porsche to replicate the build process for an actual GT3 RS, allowing Lego builders to follow Stuttgart's actual production sequence as closely as possible. The kit includes an inch-thick instruction manual which, says Lego Technic senior design manager Andrew Woodman, "is more like a coffee table book or an exclusive book" than a build tutorial. It includes not only step-by-step assembly instructions for the set, but tandem design and engineering backstories for Porsche's actual 911 GT3 RS.

Lego being Lego, the RS is meant to be touched. The doors open and close, as does the engine-compartment and front lids. There's a fully adjustable wing at the rear, and a gear bag in the boot. And what's under the skin is at least as impressive as the lava orange exterior. Designer Uwe Wabra has created a Lego-ised four-speed version of Porsche's PDK dual-clutch transmission, complete with rubber-band-tensioned paddle shifters and a drive selector with forward and reverse settings. And of course, the gearbox meets a horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine with moving pistons. The steering works, too, and the wheels attach to fully articulated suspension hardware, complete with racy red dampers

Quidco currently 11% cashback at Lego.com

If they have a set in the 20% off brick Friday sale that you want that's (approx.) 30% off. I just bought the VW Camper van as it's currently £64 instead of £80!

(Also had a £20 gift voucher and £5 worth of VIP points so paid £39 for it instead of £80, and will get 11% cashback too.)
