I found XSplit gash and OBS, whilst not exactly as user-friendly, is much better and compatible overall. So, yea, I'd recommend OBS over XSplit.

Thanks Andrew. Your responses do tend to carry a bit of weight with me, so I appreciate it! A lot of people have said that actually. I was going to go with OBS, but sadly it looks like it won't work with my capture card. I've downloaded a bunch of solutions, so I think I'll just have a go and see which works best, if at all.

Would anyone be interested in watching a Destiny livestream for three or so hours every Sunday night?

What capture card are you using?

Well, I would have been using my Roxio Game Capture HD (got it ridiculously cheap, second-hand on eBay) as the Xbox I was going to use was a really old one that didn't have an HDMI, but I've decided I'm going to put that one in our bedroom upstairs and use it as a Netflix/DVD box and have my "proper" 360 downstairs in the optimal streaming room, so I can use my Elgato. So... Just checking... Elgato capture devices seem to have problems with OBS too. I know of FFSplit, but that seems to have compatibility issues with both those devices too, are there any other notable streaming software solutions, free or otherwise?

You know, I don't really have a problem paying for XSplit if it means all my gooseberry fool will work...

Xsplit is pretty much useless. OBS can do everything Xsplit can while being free and in my opinion much more user friendly. If someone offered me Xsplit over OBS now I'd laugh at them.

I thought the Elgato worked with OBS? :?

That's put me off getting one then as it's something I was considering.

I love OBS though. It's a bit flakey at times, but it's flexibility and price makes it perfect for my uses.

I'm currently looking at OBS overlays that I can use for my Sick Kids Save Point stream next month. I want something that looks suitably professional, while being flexible and most importantly free.

You can make your own by just making an image in photoshop then having it set as a scene.

This:

for example, all of the overlays are made as images (although I've made a program to do that now)

Hmm, I've read conflicting reports about Elgato and OBS. It may just be idiots being idiotic.

I'm doing a dummy run tomorrow after I've moved all the consoles around, so I'll let you know.

I don't get why XSplit is so broken though. Pretty much every opinion on it that I've read has been unfavourable. You'd think the paid option would be of higher quality.

I've bought the Elgato HD 60. My first capture device. 1080p 60fps splits game and narration audio. Barely tested it. No manual. But seems okay. i'll let you know how it goes.

Yeah I know, I'm just horrendous at asset creation stuff and I don't have Photoshop anyway.

I've put together a basic one, with some graphics and space for a webcam feed, text scrollers n stuff, but it looks pretty basic.

I use an Elgato with OBS with zero issues, you just need to tweak the audio to be delayed if you're running live commentary (as the Elgato has that natural and annoying capture lag).

I reckon so, Phote - whenever you're gonna stream, post a note (including the link) here and folk can then dial in to watch the show. It may help to give people a wee bit of notice but, hey, if it's gonna happen right away then that's cool, too.

"I'm excited!" about viewing your XBO streams :toot: .
