On the actual Barclays Bank app at the bottom there is a products tab you can click on then it will give you the options and one of them is current account.

That's not there for me. There is a products section but it doesn't include anything about a current account. I click on 'Found out more' and it gives me these options:

Loans
Barclaycard
Insurance
Money worries
Ways to borrow

The 'Barclaycard' option takes me to a screen with options for managing my credit card.

I'm assuming this is because I'm locked into some weird credit card version of the app, that for some reason doesn't have all the options.

Got through to someone else who actually knew what they were talking about. They've told me I have to delete the app, reinstall it and then register as a new customer. I should then get the ability to apply for the current account.

The first person was a woman with an English accent who has worked at Barclays for 19 years, and was enjoying a day of working from home.
The second person, also female, had a strong foreign accent, and didn't feel the need to tell me anything about herself.

Bloody foreigners, coming here, being much better and more efficient than us at our jobs .

Not yet, but it only completed on Tuesday, and at application it suggested the incentive would arrive 21 days after completion.

I'm tired of First Direct being all elitist about their switches, 'Can't have had incentives' EVER.

I'm considering making a fake identity to get a new switch incentive from them. Must have been 2014 I got my incentive, maybe even earlier than that.

I will point out their bank from everything I’ve read is horrendous and often has IT errors so absolutely
Don’t switch your main acccount.

You don’t need to switch Direct Debits but you do need to have two active when you open it to qualify (so could just add PayPal for example and another direct debit.

For an extra £60 you have to use the debit card 20 times (I’d assume you could buy £1 x 20 of Amazon credit online..)

To qualify for the £125 switch incentive you must do all of the following:

• Apply for a new TSB Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus account through tsb.co.uk, the TSB Mobile Banking App or in Branches.
• Submit a full switch request via tsb.co.uk or in branch to your new TSB Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus account using the Current Account Switch Service. The switch must be initiated before the offer is withdrawn and complete within
21 days of you requesting it.
• A full switch means all of your active credits and debits from your old account (not held with TSB) will be transferred across automatically as part of the service and your account will be closed.
And
By 15 March 2024 you must do all of the following:
• Make a minimum of one payment using the debit card on your new Spend & Save or Spend & Save Plus account.
• Log into the TSB Mobile Banking App at least once.
