First lovely day in ages, sat in the garden, lovely peace and quiet, which has now been shattered as next door has in industrial vacuum out and is vacuuming their garden. Sounds like a strawberry floating aeroplane engine.

Still going. They're shouting to each other over the noise too.

With the weather in mind, I'm expecting the bonfires to be lit this evening.

This is one of the reasons I'm not at home today, the moment the sun comes out, so do the power tool wankers.

It's OK, the pressure washer is out now. 3 hours and counting.

Yeah, if it's the first decent day in a while after shitty weather you often get people getting noisy stuff done they've been waiting to do for a while.

Although, quite often those jobs are things that could have easily been done earlier when it was cool/cloudy. But a lot of people only ever seem to want to do outside work if they can feel the sun on them.

Which never makes sense to me. I much prefer working when it's cloudy so I don't sweat like mad.

Can you not politely ask them to take a break for a bit? Why are they vacuuming their garden anyway wtf?

The best part is you actually recorded it. I thought that was some kind of satirical sound effect channel.

BBC sound effects vol. 7

It went on until gone 6pm and hard started at about 11.30. Worst part was we were sat in the garden from about 10, and there was just total silence, beautiful tree swaying sounds, the odd bird flapping it's wings, lovely. In then remarked that it won't last as people have probably gone out for the morning and come lunch time the pressure washers will be out :x

Amazed leaf blower bloke wasn't at it. I suppose he's probably going to be at that today.

I mowed my lawn at 10am this morning and was worried it was too early for the Ads of this world. Hope I didn't piss anyone off!

Actually, I don't care. I'm the least noisy neighbour ever.

My new neighbours were doing their usual door-and-cupboard-and-window-banging routine from 0730 this morning. I genuinely don't know how there are that many things in the flat to slam; it's almost impressive. They had the washing machine going by 0740, too.

My (otherwise fine) power tool neighbour has gone, replaced by a sane person, and it’s a delight.

He used to get the leaf blower out at least twice a day, and wash his cars twice a week, as if any trace of real life was a stain on his character. I’d deliberately leave my car filthy to appal him.

10am is perfect to me. It's considerate to people who get up a bit later, and allows you to get noisey stuff out of the way before lunch, leaving the afternoon nice and quiet.

One of the worst we had was during the last sustained sunny spell (it's been 84 years.gif). It was such a beautiful day, and we had the afternoon in the garden, leading up to having a nice big barbecue. We had the table set outside, I'd just finished cooking and brought the food to the table, sat down and a neighbour appeared with a Strimmer and a lawn mower, and proceeded to take an hour to mow their lawn which overlooks where we were sat. Absolutely strawberry floating livid, couldn't even hear each other talk.

I think the thing that's pissing Ad off most is the longevitiy of the noise. Like, my neighbour downstairs has moved out and the property owner has had folk in the last 5 days restoring the property. It's annoying as strawberry float, but at the end of the day, if you're in the vicinity of people, you're going to hear people.

I haven't lived in a big area with lots of gardens for a while now, but back when I was in Essex at my old family home I'd say this is a decent time to start. The issue is some people seem to decide to do this, but despite having only a small lawn somehow they're running the lawnmower all day. What are they even doing?

Exactly. Everyone is entitled to do their own thing and do whatever needs to be done to their own place, with whatever noise comes with it. What isn't reasonable is taking an entire day to do it, and that day being the one and only properly nice day we've had this year. It was cold and grey yesterday and they weren't doing anything then :x
