Woke up to a series of loud bangs last night from upstairs. I have no idea what they were doing but it was 1am, it sounded like an elephant had been let loose for half an hour or so.

We just had some cats go absolutely mental at 4am. Today I found one of my potted plants catapulted across the patio. I just don't know what it did to deserve that.

Latest update on my front garden dog poo war - no confirmed doggy poo drops over the last few days but on coming home from a walk with my own dog late last night I did spot a man loitering on the path outside our house with a dog.

He could have been a perfectly innocent man with no connection to the steady stream of canine faeces I've been dealing with recently - but I couldn't take any risks so I subjected him to a cold, hard stare and waited until he moved on before returning to my house. He's going down on the list...

Dude seriously I'm a sign maker if you want one.

I may still take you up on this - the only hesitation is that we are looking to sell our house soon. I don't want any prospective buyers coming past and getting wind that our house is dog gooseberry fool central!

The idiot next door's father has arrived in his white van, whenever this guy shows up, it means drills, hammering, and plenty of other examples of power tool wankery.

Had the bloke upstairs doing that around 10pm last night, I have no idea what he's doing up there, sounds like he's building shelves that keep falling off the wall.

There has to be a legal course you can take with that as that can't be right.

We've told him we're not happy and he's going to move it so it goes straight through the roof instead. Probably won't stop the smoke but might help; he has a right to warm his house tbf. I'm going to wait for him to move it and then screen it off with some tall trees. Bit of a faff I could do without.

He won't want it to go legal because if it's ruled in our favour his property will get hit with a notice and he'll never sell in the future.

Your right not to be assailed by toxins comes before his right to warm his house.

You're doing the right thing, keeping it friendly, but don't put up with it if he doesn't fix it adequately. Laws around chimneys are very strict.

He has took it down! What a relief.

It's all been kicking off in my street this evening, the woman from no.12 came home in her car and almost mowed down the feral kids who were once again screaming, shouting, and using the road (and everyone's gardens) as their own personal playground.

Words were exchanged between her and the kids, and then she went utterly ballistic, i didn't hear what was said to her but an older guy (late teens) came over to see what was going on and she laid into him about the kids and that she had been given a mouthful by the kids and that if certain things (again, not sure the full extent of what's been going on) happen again she'll call the police. Then after she drove off, the idiot next door to me came out and talked to the kids, they fed him some bs about it all being her fault, he then decided to (instead of doing anything constructive to smooth things over) kick a football at her house, it went around 30ft into the air and bounced right off her roof. Once a dickhead, always a dickhead.

Stool bloke's still missing too, at this rate he'll start appearing on the side of milk cartons.

EDIT: Just went to close my window and could see the kids running around all across No.12's front lawn, that lady's gonna be getting a whole lot more of such behaviour this weekend i suspect.

Dang, Vermilion, sorry to hear that the usual suspects are causing hassle.

I don't know how it works around your way, but - going on previous experiences - I find that Bank Holiday weekends are the worst for neighbour issues. I'm just praying that my ass-hat neighbours aren't gonna be complete ass-hats. Good luck with your neighbours' behaviour!

Cheers Jawa, thankfully i'm out doing stuff on both saturday and sunday so i should miss quite a bit of it.

At least No.12's reaction shows i'm not the only one who's sick of all the bs up this street.

EDIT: The kids were whipped up into a complete feral frenzy last night, it was 10pm and they were still running around the streets making as much noise as possible, it's the worst behaviour i've seen for quite some time.

Dat predictive power :datass: .

So... my neighbours must have got the "noise" letter and I've had one week where it has been much better. Day-to-day neighbourly noise, of course, but that's fine. In comparison to what went before, it has been wonderful.

Until now. For forty minutes they've been gradually turning up the music bit-by-bit, the bass is kicking in and neighbour-bloke has been getting louder, too. I think they have visitors and I can tell he's on the beers. Just have to see where this goes.

Somewhere terrible no doubt.

Things here are a bit quieter this evening, but then, considering the kids were acting last night as if they were on crack, that's hardly saying much.

Neighbour bloke is getting the party going by blasting out music and tv. In our flats we all have our windows open due to the heat, so the heavy music is creating... uhm... "a carnival atmosphere". In my living room :dread: .

Shame him by throwing such an epic party of your own that no party he has could ever compare and he's shamed into never partying again.

Unfortunately that's the standard response to noise complaints.

It's hillarious to think actually that my band was banned outright from rehearsing within a matter of weeks in a village barn attic whereas your council seems to do nothing

And yeah they're probably coming back but hopefully have realised if they want to be a bunch of obnoxious banana splits you can do that in a pub.

You can tell it's bank holiday monday, the idiot next door was stood in the middle of the street with his feral brats running around screaming as per usual, and stool bloke (who returned at some point over the weekend) shattered the early morning peace by bringing out his strimmer before settling down for a long day of guard duty.

No.12's lawn is still being used as a football pitch following friday's altercation too, and the kids are currently banging on the windows and swinging on their fence (she's not in, which is probably for the best).
