Fed up talking videogames? Why?

Frame your neighbours for murder to get rid of them

I'll be complaining about the smell next.

The next step will be setting sanctions on "walking around", too.

I do still feel a bit guilty?

I have a new neighbour downstairs. I dunno who they are; I haven't seen them.

But I have heard them. Yesterday someone was banging doors and cupboards at 0530 and then scraping something for two hours last evening. He went back to banging doors at around 0700 this morning before settling into an hour of very-loud-talking-on-the-phone. Right now he's undertaking a combo of slamming cupboard doors and dragging stuff.

Sounds delightful, hope they're still better than some of the neighbours you've had though.

Ta, Vermi. I just saw the guy; I heard a front door slam and then a bloke talking loudly on a mobile phone in the hallways as he left the building. The jury is out as it's early days; we'll have to wait and see. First impressions: noisy.

So, yeah, these new neighbours are strawbin' noisy. Not in a loud TV/music way, but in a loud talking/shouting whilst banging/dragging stuff around kind of way. Right now, 23:45 on a Sunday night, there's what sounds like a group of people laughing/shouting and doors/cupboards banging.

Having lived in flats for 8 years now, I can confirm that some people are not familiar with door stops

Also lived in flats pretty much my entire adult life. Living in a US flat I have come to the conclusion that UK flats are built terribly with no thought to the end-user experience.

I have people above, below and either side if me and never hear anyone. Maybe if someone above me is playing music in their bathroom I can hear it faintly in my bathroom, and maybe if someone is hammering a nail or putting a shelf up, but I never hear anything else.

This is after years of being able to hear every footstep above you, ever door closing below you, in the UK. Even the floors are less creaky - I always took the piss out of my partner for being really heavy footed and stomping about like a T Rex, but it's coz she grew up in a place where doing that wouldn't make the whole house shake (or even make the floor vibrate even a little bit) . I got shouted at for my parents for stomping so learnt to be light on my feet, especially if you needed to sneak downstairs in the middle of the night etc.

Sure, UK housing is gooseberry fool and creaky, but at least it's affordable for all and there's no shortage.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

The flat we were in previously was sound proof. You couldn't hear anything. Next door had a piano player. I didn't know she was one until we were leaving there.

Contrast to the one the fiancee lived in when she was in Barcelona. You could hear people going to the toilet. It was grim.

The "scraping/chiselling" is going again; it sounds like it's in my own living room. I dunno what they can be doing decorative-wise as they're just renting and the place was re-painted just before they moved in. Strawb's sake.

You seen any pallets around the place recently?

I've heard you can make a lot of things with just a pallet and a claw hammer.

A lot of things. For science.
