The sad thing is a lot of people don't know how to drill. Any hole, no matter how big or deep it is, should only take a few seconds. Not days. Specifically:

Impact, SDS and regular drivers
Masonry bits
How to hold and steady a drill
How to plunge a drill
Adequate torque
Adequate power
Adequate speed
Adequate chuck bite
Minimal runout
Bits that aren't blunt, building up more heat, and getting more blunt
Bits that are actually straight and preferably made of steel and not cake
Bits that are clean to allow chip and dust evacuation
How and why to reverse a drill

Average tool users knowledge of the above: zero.

Maybe I should do a utoob.

 I haven't seen it but I remember it quickly picking up a reputation as one of the most machoistic films of all time.

I'm one gangly fella really. I learnt all of that on a gallery contract through trial and error, with no one instructing how to use a drill. But it was literally 90% of the job. So I have an intimate relationship with walls and putting holes in them because there wasn't really much else to get good at.

I had to be very quiet in case of angering trump guy fitting the handrail in the house (his holes were massive), see renting thread or was that here?

Nothing beats a good drill. Mmm drills.

I spent over an hour looking at specialist drill bits earlier for my mill. :shifty:

I'm also great at putting dowels in perfectly drilled matching holes. Mmm cabinetry. I'm the human machinist. All this talk of putting bits in holes :datass:

Edit: oh wait of course Ive seen that. I forgot its half space scifi film. Yes I enjoyed it, I think I've seen it more than twice

Stool bloke watched the gas man arrive, then was still there watching as the guy left (had my boiler serviced) an hour later.

He even ate his lunch while keeping an eye on things, thank god for Stool Bloke security, you never know what that dastardly gas man might have done.

Does he take the stool out or is it a stool he keeps out ready for sitting on?

I think he puts the stool in his garage.

He really is like one of those garden gnomes that you see sat on a stool holding a fishing rod, all he needs is the red pointy hat.

Make him a red pointy hat and a stick with some wire stuck to it (like a gnomes fishing rod) then post it to him.

Question: What is Still Bloke's take on the kids running riot?

Check out my YouTube channel!

Doesn't seem to make a difference to him, he's besties with the idiot next door to me and so seems happy to encourage it.

Shame i couldn't steal some of his other things too.

This morning he's just started up his VW Camper Van, nothing too bad about that you're probably thinking eh, but he doesn't just start it and drive away, no, he leaves it running on his drive and continually revs the engine so the entire street ends up filled with fumes.

I hate being stuck at home on the weekends :(

Woke up last night from a nap at half 9 by my neighbours playing loud music. Ok, that's fine, I wasn't ready to go out for the count anyway. Earplugs in, no bother.

Woke up this morning at 7:30am... by my neighbours playing loud music and cleaning up the mess (bottles clinking etc).

Guess I should've kept the earplugs in, huh.

Vermillion, you sound genuinely a bit obsessed about what’s going on in your street. Kinda frightening tbh, knowing that there are curtain twitchers of your calibre out there.

If my street was normal, i doubt i'd take any notice.
