Got to admit it does start to stir my stomach a bit when people's upper arms resemble angel delight.

Stool Bloke was running his camper van at 5am this morning and it lasted for over 30 minutes, it was so loud it was as if there was a helicopter hovering nearby, any remaining goodwill i had has now gone down the drain. :x

Have you ever tried speaking to this guy about the noise and fumes? Or have you tried the classic neighbourly push-a-poo-through-the-letterbox approach?

Yeah, and if so what has his response been? Running his van during the day is one thing but if he's smogging the place up and creating that much noise at 5am then that is a genuine problem which you are within your rights to be pissed off about.

Don't forget to post your letters through the poo box whilst you're at it.

The problem in this street, is that if you make it known that you dislike someone's behaviour, their exceptional level of arrogance just leads them to respond by doing it even more.

That's what led to the woman at no.12 ending up with the feral kids using her front window as the back of their goal.

A novel idea, but the logistics of pulling off such an operation is tricky due to Stool Bloke always standing sitting down guard.

Oh well, at least we got the washing in before they started.

You need to sneak out in the middle of the night and pour some petrol from the fire area to that white tent thing. Then when they start it up the following night...BOOM!

As I'm sat in my living room, the neighbours are shouting and screaming at each other; plenty of F-words are being yelled and he just called her the C-word.

Is it common for gardens to still have such low fences? Everyone around me has gradually erected 5-6ft panels.

Yes, let me expand on this.

It all started with a gate.

It probably sounds like nothing compared to some of the stuff you all have to put up with (especially you jawa, been in the middle of that kind of thing before and it's just horrible), but my next door neighbour is just an extremely intolerant and unlikeable person.

We've been living here about 12 years now, and everything was pretty much fine for the first few months; nods and Hellos were given, even the odd chat across the garden fence.

Then the front gate started getting held shut with a zip tie overnight. Not just once, but a good few times over the period of about a month. I took it to be someone nearby, but didn't think it was my neighbour as he'd never mentioned it being a problem.

The zip ties obviously weren't working, because the next thing that happened was the gate just...went. I asked around a few other neighbours to see if they'd seen anything, finally finding it hidden behind the bins belonging to 'him next door'.

Confronting him about it just led to me getting an earful. Apparently it rattles in the wind and keeps him awake, and it's his property too and he could do what he wanted with it (we live in a semi-detached so he had a point). My issue was that he'd never brought it up so I could have done something about it before it got to him acting in such a way.

It's gone from there since then, with me getting grief about various other noise related issues, whether they're within my control or not. Having three children (with one being autistic) means there's always going to be some level of noise that can't be avoided. I do my best to limit it, but still the complaints get fired my way. Usually a few months apart but always by the point that he's got himself so wound up that any interaction now is just me getting another earful.

The latest tension is related to the cats that we got about a year ago. Unfortunately, they'd taken a liking to a particular area of his garden and decided it would do just fine as an outdoor toilet. When he had a go at me about this, I was in full agreement with him, I'd hate to have that happen as well. Trying to smooth things over, I bought him a couple motion sensor sonic blaster things to deter the cats from his garden. He was very grateful and apologies were exchanged. But now something else has obviously happened because it's gone right back to the way it was and I'm currently waiting for him to lay into me about something any time I step outside. I'm really hoping it's just a coincidence that one of the cats has been missing for almost two weeks now...

tl;dr Next door neighbour hates any kind of noise, children and cats but won't say anything about it, instead preferring to bottle up his rage until it reaches breaking point.

The neighbour on the other side of me is ok, seems to spend most of her time on the back door step smerkin' a faaag, but is generally nice enough.

Her back garden has purple grass though. Purple. Grass.

I'll let you all decide who's the worst of the two.

Sometimes I look at this thread and think my neighbours are nowhere near as bad. 4 out of 5 in this building are really quiet, (apart frtom the odd bang and bump from upstairs, which is expected when you're the middle flat) and keep themselves to themselves.
I try to avoid the old bloke downstairs. I've caught him watching us coming to and leaving the building a number of times now (we've only been here a year) and if he stops you in the hallway you know you're in for an earful of madness and ranting about nonsensical things.
Things have been quiet recently so I'm hoping it stays that way here. Looks and sounds like I got the good end of the stick when we moved here judging by the sounds of some of your neighbours!

I was thinking about dropping a few fag lighters into the bottom of their bin one night.

It is tricky, NBK. Larger families sometimes don't realise the volume of noise that they create but, at the other end, singletons can sometimes be hyper-sensitive to noise. Finding a balance is difficult as each person has their own view. But, yeah, it would be helpful if the neighbour was able to speak to you about any issues; especially when he knows that you are approachable kinda guy.

Blimey! This sounds like an... uhm... "interesting" style, dude!

I'm glad that you have such reasonable neighbours, Tsunade. Often folk in that position don't realise how fortunate they are... it's nice to have the feeling that you have decent neighbours :-) .

*Stool Bloke Update*

Stool Bloke started his day by putting his feet up...

...but then, he decided to light a barbecue, only to find that the wind had changed direction and it blew all the smoke right in to his garage! :slol: :toot:

Must be just for bbq's as normally the camper van is parked there, have only spotted the half VW on a couple of occasions.
