Had an email from TSB. Rate is dropping from 5% to 3% and only paid on up to £1,500 rather than £2,000 so it's a double hit.

Knew it would happen after we halved the 123 account, 3% on 1500 is gooseberry fool.

I know it might sound a bit silly but. It may be that we could help each other out in this thread. Dependant on security and stuff. If we listed members who were with certain banks and looking to do 'recommend a friend' in the first post? Then members wanting to switch to them banks could get recommended by one of us already with them. E.g. Nationwide or first direct etc. It even works with Amex reward cards. You'd have to take it in turns ( or with someone you trust) if people were with same bank but could be a nice little communal thing. As long as it's not fraud or something.

No thanks due to security concerns?Or due to you being in charge of first post. If it's a security concern then I of course understand! Most discussing would be done between the two individuals by pm of course! But I suppose there is a trust issue having to give out a personal name and email address even if it is by pm.

It does sound just a little bit dodgy.

I think that Curls may have been misunderstood.

If I read it correctly, he was saying we could refer each other for the referral bonuses as we'd be opening the accounts anyway. I can understand the want to not hand over details but don't think he was trying to suggest anything that could have been harmful.

Guys! Help me out here please - I was reading through my Santander account terms and conditions the other day, and I noticed that it said that you don't gain interest on any money in the 123 account over the £20,000 limit. So, what do I do with the excess? I've got an ISA with Santander as well, but I don't think I can put any more money into that now because I'm paying into the Halifax Help-to-Buy ISA every month.

Are there any other good savings accounts that I can open with a big chunk of money, or should I be looking into Stocks and Shares ISAs and the like (and if I should be, where should I be looking? :shifty: )

Tesco current accounts, you have 2, will pay the same 3% on 3k in each account. As will Bank of Scotland, however you can have 3 of these.

Most of the others are slashing their rates now.

3% on up to 3K? Really? There has to be some condition to that though surely, like paying in so much a month or something. Otherwise why bother with an ISA at all when they're barely offering 1% interest rates these days?

If you have multiple accounts needing a pay in you can just move your money around with a standing order, according to money saving expert.

Technically 3% on 6k as you can have 2 with Tesco. No pay in requirement or DD's needed with Tesco, unsure about BoS. Even with pay in:

Even with DD's, you just set up a couple of internet savers with Tesco and they will act as DD for any account.
