Yeah so carry on.

I do like a clean message board, one I don't have to hide when people walk into the room.

I do want to go back to having a forum without TCRT or TMT even if it means more loser threads floating about which I know the content of and don't have to look into and topics that won't just be spammed to hell.

Need to also find a way to get more members, I don't even see GRcade advertised on DPAD, Press Start or Savygamer, so why are they advertised here?

We're on the SavyGamer site, there's a image the same size as the one on here. We have a rather small link on D-Pad and PSO is dead.

Even though i find a lot of the more vulgar threads and post hilarious, i agree about what's been said about bringing the rules back to how they were on the original GR. I'll certainly make a conscious effort to clean up my posts.

I think the getting new members issue is a separate debate really.

Step 1 is to clean the place up a bit.

Sarge did raise a good point about RLLMUK having fairly liberal rules in regards to swearing and the like.

We probably do need a frontend though, say maybe an IMDb for games.

As I was saying before, we need a website of our very own, called GRcade, with the GRcade URL. A website that the forum is intrinsically linked to. I know this will end up being a very unpopular idea, but why not merge D+Pad, PSO and SavyGamer, and use the combined staff to make a GRcade website that everyone can be proud of.

Also, tighten up the rules just a little, but not to an extreme.

D+PAD and PSO are pretty similar aren't they? If they did agree to it though, there would be a lot of people to write content for the GRcade site as well as some on here who aren't linked to either of them that might want to write so there would be an abundance of content to stick up.

That's the idea. Pool the resources, and it should also save on hosting costs,in theory.

I've always hidden GR in all of its incarnations whenever somebody comes in the room.

DPAD becoming the main site for GRcade in all but name has been raised before and has never come to anything because it's assumed the DPAD guys just aren't interested.

Aye, I'm more than happy to help in its daily running/updating.

We also have a fair few industry types, a few exclusive updates about games that aren't under NDA/media releases would also help to entice new members.

What's the point in bringing new users in when the forum 503s with what little users we have

If we're bringing more users in we need to move the forum to a better host.

Thing is, now that I think about it, a IGDb just wouldn't work because cataloging games isn't actually that useful since videogames as a medium has fewer interesting aspects to it than movies.

When I said it, I mostly meant the ratings side of IMDb, so I guess something different as the main content would be better? I don't think it should be news and reviews though.

People use TCRT and TMT. I think that's a good enough reason as any to justify it's existance. Don't want to read it? Don't go in.

Create a sub-forum within OT to house any threads that might be deemed distasteful, and keep OT for current event discussion, entertainment discussion, and other desirable threads.

Post an annoucement asking people to tone down the swearing.

That's all that really needs doing in my opinion. Babe threads are fine, funny wanking threads are fine, shitting threads are fine. Just stick them in a part of the forum that is seperate from OT, with a clear warning. Simples.

I don't know what arbitrarily banning 'banana split' is going to achieve. Has anyone used it to extreme? Has it been used aggressively against another forumite? As far as I can tell, no. So why ban someone that happens to use it in a post?

Haven't had the forum 503 in a while. Although yeah if we do start up a main site it'd be a good idea to move to someone more reliable.

As this took me ages to write (I was trying to be as diplomatic as I could but I'm no Picard) I'm going to post it here.

I think Gandalf is right and the forum does need to have stronger hands at the helm but on the other hand Fatal Exception made a great point about defining boundaries. I think we need to set the rules about what topics are and are not acceptable (I don't think for one second it's my role to say what those rules are just give my opinion along with everyone else) and then we need to stick to those rules.

Personally I think we need to step away from topics such as the infamous Mass Wank topic or the topics about How do you wipe as I honestly don't feel they have a place here. I'm not saying ban all filth just ban the more crude stuff and go back to being a place you could invite people to without fear.

Yes I know I'm somewhat old fashioned but I think some boundaries are good for the forum.

It's been brought up a few times, we have a forum with no main site, we have a main site without a forum (or possibly no need for one), hey if your forum needs a site, hey if your site needs a forum, everyone shutup think Cuttooth think, everyone's depending on you.

Umm... yeah, it's been said before and the response tends to be that each side want to do their own thing. I don't think merging everything together is the solution though.

It'd be good to do something different than just the normal news and reviews baloney you can get from any other games site, if we are going to do this then it would be good to do something original and hopefully unique.
