The Xbox One Elite controller which looked pretty damn awesome at the MS press conference is officially $150 in the US and available for preorder here for £130 from Game.

Is it just me or has the world gone mad.

I'd take one with just the under-triggers for racing, but I guess i'll be getting the Valve controller which has those, for a lot less.

I might have been tempted even as high as something like £80, it does look like a great controller with some amazing features. But the price is utterly ridiculous.

I'll only get one if Gamestop honour my £45 pre-order, which I seriously doubt.
Even that price feels too much for a controller to me really.

The most insane thing on Grcade at E3 is that Hugo isn't defending the price.

Even though I won't be buying one I do like the fact that they are experimenting with stuff like this.

Compared to the Mad Catz MLG pad, which seems to the last gen equivalent of this, I'm a bit disappointed that they just let you replace the stick tips and not the entire stick mechanism. One neat thing about the Mad Catz was that you could switch around stick positions and also buy a set of stiffer analog sticks if you wanted to.
Really not sure about that disc d-pad.

It's not an MS/Sony thing at all.

It was nothing to do with your love/hate of Sony/MS and more to do with your previous defending of silly prices in gaming.

Except Fallout 4, Xbox One BC with 360, Ashen, Hololens, Gears 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Uncharted 4.

Refresh my memory.

I don't think I've ever supported a price point which is the equivalent of a controller that is more than half the price of the console its used for.

Eventually they'll just ignore the exchange rate altogether; I guess it's easier to just add a £ in place of the $

Its not quite as bad as it might look, the US price is without sales tax. Direct conversion of the US price + UK tax would have it at £115.

I agree, you have never supported a price point which is the equivalent of a controller that is more than half the price of the console its used for.

Initially I baulked at the idea because I personally would never spend that on a controller. But thinking about it, from a business perspective I'm sure there's a decent sized market for this with hardcore fans. I'm surprised they haven't done it before to be honest.
