I know it's been posted in CLT but I feel we should take a cue from GGC and veer away from monster threads for news.

ANYWAY.

My absolute favourite band ever. Got pumped when I saw the mailing list e-mail earlier.

I'm one of the people singing along at 2:20, grabbed his hand, haven't washed since. Hope I can catch them when they come over.

The older I get, the less and less excited I get about music but this news has left me all of a tingle. Matt's voice is just incredible. First time I heard this I was hooked from then on.

I'm going to have a National day at work today starting with Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers (90 Mile Water Wall  )

I must have been right behind you then. They weren't as good at Reading as when I saw them at the Roundhouse, lot's of pricks there but that's Reading for you.

I started listening to them because of you Exxy, so thanks! My second favourite band behind the almighty Radiohead

I remember introducing this band to some newbies on this forum.

My musical taste is insane. Also i'm cool as strawberry float that is why. :datass:

Trouble Will Find Me - May 20th

http://pitchfork.com/news/50044-the-nat ... l-find-me/

The National have announced details of their sixth studio album: Trouble Will Find Me is out on May 20 via 4AD (May 21 in North America). The album was recorded at Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, NY, and was self-produced, with mixing by Craig Silvey, Peter Katis, and Marcus Paquin. That's the artwork above. The album will be released digitally, on CD, 180gm vinyl, and in a limited edition deluxe boxed vinyl set. It follows 2010's High Violet.
In a release, frontman Matt Berninger writes:

"For the past 10 years we'd been chasing something, wanting to prove something. And this chase was about trying to disprove our own insecurities. After touring High Violet, I think we felt like we'd finally gotten there. Now we could relax-- not in terms of our own expectations but we didn't have to prove our identity any longer."

Aaron Dessner, the band's guitarist, said "our ideas would immediately click with each other. It's free-wheeling again. The songs on one level are our most complex, and on another they're our most simple and human. It just feels like we've embraced the chemistry we have."
Check out the tracklist below, followed by the National's current touring schedule, and videos of the band performing new songs at December's ATP festival. The National are also the subject of a forthcoming documentary by Matt's brother, Tom Berninger.

I haven't owned a record player for about 15 years and yet I'm strangely drawn to the limited edition vinyl edition. Purely to gaze upon I suppose.

I see they're not letting Yeah Yeah Yeahs win the Worst Cover of 2013 award without a fight.
