Climbing Hangar in Parsons Green? I like it there, it's like someone has just gutted their house and turned it into a bouldering gym.

strawberry floating spot on! :o Small world!

I've been only twice to that place, bouldering is fun but way too pricey compared to a normal gym and it wrecks my hands even with chalk. Feels like I used sandpaper on them.

Hah, I used to go there when it was still called Urban Ascent. Loved it, one of my favourite climbing gyms.

So I'm shopping around for a new, affordable BJJ gym. I found one close by and asked can I do a trial class. This was a few weeks ago. They were like sure, anytime just call in! So I rock up tonight finally, only it's literally brand new virginal white belt inauguration class. I stayed anyway just for fun. So they're showing how to do a very simple trap and roll mount escape. Something I've pulled off in live sparring a few times so I'm used to it. I'm like "oh yeah this will be easy". Until they paired me up with a man mountain, must've been about 6'4" and 300lbs
Even doing something simple like that is a nightmare with a partner that size. Managed to get him off me tho, and the next guy I was paired up with was killed telling me all the things I was doing wrong
I didn't say anything, cause I didn't want to be a dickhead like "well actually I've trained almost a year", I just smiled and nodded and internally was all

Urgh man, banana splits that think they know better.

Remember a couple of years into lifting I was mad strong but still looked skinny, had recently been hospitalised so was building back up to heavy lifting and the typical meathead came in and tried teaching the most strawberry floated way possible to squat. Was just nodding politely till he turned his back and I could do it properly again.

Yeah I just don't understand it. I guess some people just really like to feel superior. Even if I see someone do something blatantly wrong in training I never correct them because it's not my job, and I'm not the instructor

Yeah mate, big time. I did 100Kg for 1 rep a bit too quickly after the op and didnt feel great for a while. Got a bit too keen!. So stuck at mainly 60-80kg for 6-12 rep sets for a while. Feeling better for it for sure.

Thats awesome. Injuries are the strawberry floating worst. Hope it keeps going well for you!

I did my first ever No Gi BJJ class last night. Its like someone switched difficulty from hard, to european extreme. Also it ups the innate homo-eroticism of BJJ to max levels

Really looking forward to the Frampton fight tonight. Great guy and fantastic fighter, really hoping I can get my hands on a pirated copy tomorrow before seeing the result.

Not sure what to have it down is, fancy Frampton to win - probably on points again but maybe a late stoppage. Bet it'll be a strawberry floating great fight anyway.

Just got myself a Fitbit Charge 2 today. My first ever fitness monitor...don't know why I never got one until now. Really like the Apple/California feel it has to the brand also...makes you want to go out and exercise more...except it rains too much here.

Just realised I posted that in the wrong thread, never mind.

What's the point of the fitbit? Like, what does it show, just your distance covered and heart rate?

Watched the video, that... looks pretty pointless tbh.

Fitbit isn't a good brand if you're using it for athletic purposes. The HR monitor is far less reliable than competition brands (Polar, Tom Tom, Garmin). It's useful for people trying to be more active and increase step counts (something I wholeheartedly back) but I don't recommend it for athletic populations...

I understand where you're coming from but apart from tracking your heart rate 24/7 which can then give you a good idea of your health. It also has training programs within the app with some cool features like virtual tours of places like Yosemite so you can imagine your running through a track there with your steps.
The automatic tracking of your sleep is good too so you can improve your sleeping patterns effortlessly as you only have to wear the device to sleep.

See above re: Heart Rate. Fitbit isn't what you want for that. Sleep tracking is fairly useful though, actually. I was given a fitbit last year and the sleep stats seemed to be fairly accurate. All it did was highlight how little I sleep and stressed me out, causing me to sleep less. It's good for keeping a general track of step count and making you aware when you're sat down for too long.

Haha I thought as much. Didn't even know Frampton was fighting myself. UFC Denver was pretty good tho. Lot of good finishes.

No idea about Fitbit or any of those myself. I use the step counter on my phone and my fitness pal but that's about it . But hey if it gets people off the sofa it's all good

Failed 170kg deadlift.
Totally stalled the first effort, quick mental slap round the face, then narrowly missed the second. Jsut couldn't keep my hand going and get off my thigh. It will come
