Falling off your bike after going through all of that must be such a horrible feeling . Did you still have the run to do at that point?

Must be a good feeling anyway, I'd quite like to do one of those.

Yeah, still had the run after that, but thankful by the time I got to transition I was over the worst of it. The fear that went through me as I was falling, since I didn't finish the one last year I really wanted to do this one and just really pissed off at myself for making such a stupid mistake. The steward said I wasn't the first person to do it that morning there, so at least there's that.
Yeah, feels good to have got it done, I'd recommend it if there's one close to you. Manageable distance. I won't do this one again, my start time was 740 which was really impractical since I don't have a car so had to get a hotel. I'd consider one closer to me, but it's quite hilly around here so I'd need to train much more on my bike, that's by far my worst of the three.

Sounds like you got quite lucky. I'd have been very scared of injury, although I suppose unless it was really bad you would expect the adrenaline to carry you through the run.

There is one right on my doorstep. Very tempted.

I literally said to the guy as I got back on my bike "Might as well use this adrenaline for something positive." as I rode off swearing in pain, but yeah, very luck.

I would recommend it, your running will be fine, what you like for cycling and swimming?

I think with a bit of training I could do both pretty well. The main difficulty would be cycling, as I live in a city centre and don't own a bike. Somehow I don't think I could go immediately from training on a stationary gym bike to the real thing in a triathlon!

Well done TNAG! :)

I'm slowly getting back to somewhere I'm happy with. Was out with two foot injuries from New Year until March, did a couple of halves, had my appendix out which was another four weeks without training. Been able to string four weeks of training together now for the first time in 2017. Eight weeks since appendix came out and I still can't jump or run so I'm having to do 50 minute cycle time trials every day at the gym instead :dread: :( - really isn't stimulating but so good to be able to push myself again. We'll get there chaps.

Cheers Mini E, shame to hear things are taking a while but you'll get back to yourself at some point, and it'll feel amazing when you can run again I'm sure.

Ob, I recon as long as you do a decent amount of interval stuff on a stationary bike you should be OK. Sure, actually getting out there is best, but I had minimal road experience before this and found it OK going. I also would do sessions where I would cycle and then run, to get me used to running after a cycle which I think helped a lot. Also I would swim intervals and pretty long sessions to try and condition me so I wouldn't be too knackard after the swim, which I think helped a fair bit too.

That's definitely no growth. Good work TNAG. Surprised that 5kg looks so visually obvious. Love handles look far smaller.

Thanks, yeah it's crazy to think it's just about 5kg difference. Once I've recovered from yesterday I need to think how I'm going to move forwards, but at the moment I'm quite enjoying PPL, but I probably need to eat more if I want to gain muscle a bit quicker. Thinking about doing a half marathon towards the end of the year too, to keep me motivated.

Holy gooseberry fool that's a crazy difference TNAG! Good job!

I badly need to get my diet and regime back on track. Was on holidays the last week and a bit, nothing but beer and junk food. Went to the gym on Friday and was sweating like a hoor after a few minutes.
