Nice one grump!

Joined a new gym today, a total fitness. Mainly because I want one with a pool because I've really enjoyed swimming and it's cheaper this way if I swim twice a week, but it's also a bit easier to get to which is nice.

Free weight section is pretty good, but my last gym spoilt me by having 6 squat racks two of each kind of bench press. Got a 200m indoor track, a rotating climbing wall, a pretty cool body weight section and I couldn't think of anything it seems to be missing.

It's also well ventilated and had cold showers, which will help in the summer.

Only thing I'm worried about is how busy it might get, so time will tell on that.

Busy gyms are the worst, mine never has too many people in it but those who do go are super chatty - which is pretty decent, although most of them are ultra lad types. Last time I was sitting chatting with them between sets and an Italian guy was complaining about being tired cos he'd been strawberry floating some lass then immediately afterwards had to head home and strawberry float his girlfriend so she wouldn't notice anything was wrong :fp: Knobend. Still, is a great place.

Had a gooseberry fool week this one with it, skipped a couple of sessions and my shoulder's still playing up a bit, hoping to hit it hard 5 days a week for the next two weeks then have another deload week to give my body time to recover.

New gym was pretty good today. Weight section was a little busy, but manageable. Pool was dead. Everywhere else fine. Considering its a Monday this is very promising.

My gym went above and beyond today, was chatting to some random woman when she disappeared for a few minutes, came back out in nothing but the skimpiest bra and pants and was talking to me and the older male receptionist like nothing was going on. Think she's pushing late 30s but cracking body, really athletic with massive silicone chest. Not sure if this is some semi-nudist trend going on here, fat dude with a small towel was at it the other day.

Only had about 35 mins free so just had a quick leg sesh, squats and cycling then out. God I'm still pretty unfit.

Well that's certainly different, don't get ladies like that in the north west, that's for sure.

Signed up for another couple of halves today. Had the New Forest and Bournemouth halves recently. Great South this weekend then a break. Might fit a couple in that break before Bath and Reading (again) in March, then the Brighton Marathon in April, then the Cotswold 24 hour relay run in July. I need to stop signing up for this gooseberry fool

Got my blood cholesterol levels and blood sugar levels checked yesterday.

Cholesterol.
Total: <2.59 (below 5 is the figure to aim for)
HDL: <1.19 (above 1 is the figure to aim for)
Ratio: machine wouldn't calculate this because my total Cholesterol was too low. :datass:

HDL is the good cholesterol.

Blood sugar.
5.2 (below 6 is the goal). Taken about 90 minutes after eating a banana and about 180 minutes after eating a roast beef bagel with a coffee.

I didn't expect my results to be that good. :D

I'm wanting to get my Testosterone levels checked... :shifty:

I'm so close to Two Blues and a Green either side. :datass:

Used to have a lass in my gym that who did bikini competitions. She'd come in, change into the skimpiest bikinis with stripper heels and practice her walks etc. Inbetween the walks she would do squats, stiff legged deads, kettle bells etc.

It was alright.

Well I saw today what I thought was just an internet legend: a naked old man drying his balls with a hair dryer. As an added bonus he was also drying his hair with a secondary wall mounted dryer. He's clearly got life figured out.

strawberry floating beast! Well done. :) What's your height and weight?

Treat yourself to some Test and Tren for your birthday. :shifty:

I'm still too paranoid to deadlift heavy, I did 190KG about 5 years ago, but post sciatica, I've not gone above 100KG.

I'm 6'1 and about 95kg. Goal is to get a 300kg deadlift under 100kg BW before I'm 30. Very difficult but that's the plan.

More short term goal I'm hoping for a 180/120/250 by January 19th.

Lately I've been struggling with motivation, more so now than ever since I first started lifting I think.

I'm still looking pretty good and hitting the gym 3 times a week on average but my cardio's gone to gooseberry fool, my diet isn't quite on point enough to hit the previous heights of bodybuilding, and my shoulder's still giving me major troubles - was hoping to easily be into BJJ and back into boxing by now but still can't see it happening in the foreseeable future.

I still look pretty great but my lifts are currently unspectacular and I just don't feel quite the same passion as I used to. I can summon enough of the old willpower to pull me through workouts but it's not as it used to be, currently. Need to get back into some regimented sport I think. Or just hope it's an overly lengthy malaise that will go away soon enough.

Nice work on the bjj though, should we ever meet in a gym I'll know to keep my distance ;)

I think I'm getting a build up of fatigue. And I think regular pull ups and chin ups are causing it. I would take a longer break if I didn't have OCD level determination to go 3x a week. Maybe some "active rest" sessions involving light dumbbell work and LISS cardio.

Diet has been a little more relaxed, I still don't eat junk foods but I've been eating out at restaurants a fair bit (too many delicious cheeseburgers and all you can eat Brazilian BBQ) and drank alcohol more frequently than normally would do.

Weight seems to fluctuate 83.6-85.9KG (always measure first thing in the morning after pissing).

Bench Press 1RM increased to 117.5KG. I reckon I'll go 120KG before Christmas. :datass:

Things not going too bad. Joined a new gym a month and a half ago, and in the last 2 months I've lost about 4kg and put on a bit of muscle. Taking it easy this week, then just going to stay the course for the rest of the year, then in Jan going to get a little bit more strict for the first couple months or so. I've been doing weights, running, cycling and swimming. Weights have been slowly increasing, but I've not really pushed myself with the rest which I'll start to do, and also alternate my weights to one week strength then one week hypertrophy. Got a stretching session tomorrow, for the first time, which'll be horrible no doubt.

Hey chaps. Hope all is going well for you all! I've been on the road constantly for the past month or so, so consistency is so difficult. My running training plan is working up towards marathon distance and covering so many miles means I need more calories which is a pain when you're trying to lose the last bit of muffin top... I look in the mirror now after the gym and actually see someone who looks like an athlete (IMO) which is pretty great after a lifetime of seeing a bit of a fatty. I've got three working weeks all in one place between now and Christmas so making the most of it to make sure things are on point for Christmas itself and the puddings it brings... I have three half marathons and a full marathon in the space of 6 weeks from the end of Feb. The halves will be fine but I'm pretty nervous about the full :dread:

Oh also holy strawberry floating gooseberry fool my gym is ridiculous, they have one cd that is genuinely non stop on repeat - I honestly think I'm at the point where I can recite the track list and 95% of the lyrics to 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Trying. I mean, it's a pretty decent gangster rap album but Christ. Mentioned it to the owner and he says he doesn't even notice it, would drive me crazy; sometimes the cd skips and I hear the same track 3 times in one workout :fp:

So, work pay for a personal trainer to speak with staff individually, I've seen her once a month or so over the last 3 months just to generally talk about stuff and track my progress. During our last talk I asked for advice about mobility so she put my in contact with a trainer who works for the same company as her, since they have people based as the gym I go to. Saw her on Wednesday and my problem isn't flexibility, but hip and glut strength. So yesterday I showed her how I do a few of my lifts, specifically my squat which she's given me some advice about. She also wanted to check my deadlifts, since she was concerned about my lower back strength and after she got me to change my technique I hit a personal best of 115kg x 3. Pretty happy with that.
