No workouts for me for the first time in over 2 years :toot: :x I'm so conflicted

Had a fever on Monday. Went into work on Tuesday and had a dizzy spell and kind of fainted for a split second  Was lucid af moments after, but doc says to rest for next few day, and that includes no working out.

On the plus side I lost over 5 kg since 31/12! Though how much of that was down to healthy eating and working out and how much of it was because of the fever I wouldn't like to guess :slol: (Woke up this morning and was drenched in sweat. Felt like a million bucks though! Go figure.)

The benefits of the All-Flu diet  Hope youre over it soon. Just enjoy the time off! I went back yesterday after a week off. Good session but holy gooseberry fool am i ever sick of getting foot cramps. Does anyonel else get these?? I seem to get them all the strawberry floating time. Ive been drinking more water lately to make sure im properly hydrated but im still getting vicious cramps. Last night it started about halfway through my session and lasted all the way til i got home. The cramping literally was switching from foot to foot.
On the plus side tho, after my weights session, i did 10 minutes on the treadmill just to see how my chest would hold up. It didnt feel great afterwards, but not awful either. A little cough here and there post run, but i was able to do the 10 minutes relatively easily. So hopefully its a sign that this chest gooseberry fool is finally on the mend.

The cramp was jumping from one foot to the other?! Get thee to a podiatrist!

I'm so glad I was told to take it easy because I have no doubt that if I wasn't I would have worked out first thing, even though my body was aching like a bastard.

Finally after months of hard work in the gym, I've just managed my first unaided muscle up.

In fact I did 3 in 1 session. However they weren't consecutive.

The next milestone is to do 5 in a row. But now that I know how the technique and timing works, I don't think it will take so long. Once I can do 5 I'll record it for prosperity.

It's such a silly thing, but I was so ecstatic after pulling it off that I cheered at myself in the gym. Of course I've not told anyone at work as it seemed like an odd thing to talk about.

I've never even tried a muscle up before, that's cool though nice one.

Pulled a strawberry floating knee injury tonight at Kung Fu. :x

Thankfully it's not too bad, but I had to stop for 15 mins and forgo the kicking routines. Will have to strap it up for my private lesson this Saturday and any training I do out of class, but it's a good opportunity to focus predominantly on my hand techniques so not all bad.

Still pisses me off, though.

I stopped doing Kung Fu for 18 months due to other, family stuff and have only been back since last November. Pulling my knee aside I am loving it again. During my break, though, I'd already been an NHS porter for a year or so, so walking anywhere between 8-15 miles a day while lifting and carrying various bits 'n bobs and pulling, from one ward to another etc, 600lb beds with patients on I've kept up a reasonable level of fitness. That said my physic is more Sammo Hung than Bruce Lee. Like Sammo, however, my physical appearance belies my ability. ;)

Good work Brer, that's awesome.

Made some great progress over the last couple of weeks with increasing weight. I've sacrificed a bit of cardio due to time but adding an extra set to try pyramid sets or just attempt as many reps as possible with a few more kg's has really paid off. On the big three I've been adding an extra kg or two every time I workout and I'm really happy with the progression, especially with deadlift's as I really didn't like doing them.

Since Sunday night I've been completely wiped out and been in bed with a temperature, chesty cough and just feeling horrendous. I'm hoping it's just a really bad cold as I had the flu about 10 years ago and remember it taking ages to get back to 100%. Is there a general rule how long you can go without training before you start to lose strength, muscle mass, etc.

Getting back into the swing of things after a long 2 month break. My goal is to final get to grips with doing pull-ups properly. Wondering about hand positions. How wide do you guys go? I'm currently going pretty wide and struggling to get my chin up and over the bar. Any tips?

If you keep your diet on point I don't think any muscle wastage at all happens for three weeks. May be incorrect though.

I've still got the tail end of flu, mad tempted to go to the gym tonight but trying to talk myself out of it. Scared of getting a chest infection.

Raging though, had to take over a week out and prep for ny holiday couldn't have been going better. Will have 4 sessions now at best before i leave the country, is ok but still slightly frustrating.

I don't really have that much of a planned diet other than trying to eat healthily and have protein with every meal. Didn't have much of an appetite on Monday and Tuesday so probably lost a bit of weight. I was going to ask some questions about diet as it's probably the thing I've found the most difficult.

Probably best to rest mate, I'm awful at going back to training too soon after an injury or whatever. You don't want to spoil your holiday.

Are you doing any training on holiday or is it just for pleasure?

What is it you find difficult with diet? Just getting enough protein/calories in? I had to tailor mine a lot as I'm a natural ectomorph and since being diagnosed with crohns I've had to pile the food in.

Nah man just pleasure only lift on business trips and when backpacking for a long amount of time. Normally like to go crazy the last few weeks before a holiday and use the time away as deload time but hasn't worked out like that this time.

Managed to keep myself from going tonight, no point in overworking and strawberry floating up my health for the holiday just to stay in shape. As i probably won't get a decent session in for a few weeks now i took a couple of shots, bit less muscle mass than i was packing before and the terrible lighting removes all definition but still think I'm looking decent. Come back with a tan and within a month of lifting I'll have surpassed it.

When I was really into T25 with dieting I got down to 11st 9 at my lightest and had really defined abs but not much upper body and most importantly I felt gooseberry fool with no energy (same thing happened when I was 19 Thai boxing, got down to 11st 5 but had no energy at all, could barely get through 3 rounds). I've found that around 12 stone 7 is my ideal weight but although I'm happy with my shape I struggle to get reallh defined abs. It's probably a worthy sacrifice because I love eating. All very first world I know, must be really tough having crohns.

Looking good man. You're going to Thailand right? Worth having a go at a Thai boxing gym if you fancy killing yourself. If the weather is anything like it was when I went you'll be able to eat and drink whatever you want as you'll sweat a couple of pounds every day.

Looking strawberry floating jacked mate 8-)

Cheers man.

What height are you hime? I’ve not weighed myself in so long I can’t even remember my ideal weight, I think at around 13st I feel good. Still light enough to be mobile while looking pretty big.

It’s not too bad, used to be absolutely awful but weed/cbd oil has pretty much sorted it out. Did look into doing that as I thought it’d be cool learning over there, no chance the couple of mates I’m travelling with would be into it though.

I'm 6ft, pretty broad so I figure I'll always be at the top end of the BMI. Do you have any metrics for recording progress?

Does anyone here have a chicken and boiled veg diet or are you more easy going?

I used to be really anal about counting calories and protein when I started, but I started out weighing about 8 and a half stone so I felt like I had to track that gooseberry fool to make sure I was gonna progress. I’ve lifted for so many years now that I don’t really bother and eat what I want to an extent, I know roughly what will keep me in decent shape but eat dark chocolate most days and a few pizzas or whatever else junk food a week, etc.

My only method of tracking progress has ever been my memory. Not really one for keeping a diary or similar.

My god that first session back

Felt like I was about to pass out a couple of times but thankfully my chest still feels quite clear, will find out tomorrow if it was a terrible idea or not.

This is the longest time since I started training (around 12 years ago) that I've not been to the gym. I think it's been around 5 weeks, simply down to everything that goes along with a wedding. I'm going tomorrow, as long as I stop strawberry floating drinking right now, and I cannot wait for the pain I'm going to experience in the following 3-5 days .

Had my first muay thai fight yesterday. It was a slightly gimped version, 3 rounds with elbows and knees disallowed, still quite the experience though.

Was paired with a French guy in his mid 30s. Towards the end of the first he hit me with a straight left that i saw coming but couldn't dodge in time, landed flush on my chin - never been hit like it. Started seeing hazy colours all around the edges of my vision. Was so tempted to retire at the end of the round but though I'd come that far already.

In the end he won by decision which, looking back at the video my friend took, I feel was fairly harsh. I think I was the more aggressive fighter and landed the better blows while using some of my slightly greater strength to keep him at decent range. He was a speedy strawberry floater though and pretty adept at landing on the inside.

Kicks from both of us were limited, I have no experience in them so literally only threw punches. Probably counted against me. He landed a flat blow on the side of my knee which I barely felt at the time but is now a monster bruise.

Feel good about doing it despite the loss. I'm still getting adrenalin rushes thinking about it, similar to when you first start getting regularly laid as a teen and it consumes your mind. Can still see that left jab coming towards me, my left pushing his head to set up distance for a right hook and forcing myself to keep pressure on as the urge to vomit from exhaustion was rising.

Might try it again tonight but not certain. Professional fighters are strawberry floating mental.

Let me watch the footage again and I'll see if it's worth uploading :slol:

There were a few times I thought about kicking but I was still adopting a traditional boxing stance out of habit and could feel my balance going whenever trying to manoeuvre round for a kick.

My footwork most disappointed me, when boxing consistently a few years ago it used to be my strongest aspect. Was lighter back then so didn't have as much power but could avoid blows and control the ring much better. Think I'm just out of practice but my footwork the other day was dire, couldn't manufacture the right space between us at all. He knew his reach was shorter so stayed in my face the whole time but I could've backed off more effectively and set the range much better. There was one uppercut in particular which I think could have ended the fight had it landed but I slightly misjudged the distance and came up a couple of inches short.

It is harder too when he used kicks to bridge the gap between us, not used to that at all.

Totally agree about the fixation though, as you can probably tell

Moving in to a different flat when back from Thailand in a couple of weeks which is reasonably close to a boxing gym which has produced a couple of recent world champions.100% getting down there and getting my skills up. Think my muay thai days are over, spending the rest of my time here partying
