Ive recently been trying to get into a better routine with my life, this has meant doing a gym session here and there and just trying to move a bit more in general, the end goal being to drop the weight and just feel better in myself. The gym session was with the rugby club I coach for, I was basically going to be jumping in with some of the players when they were doing their stuff, what I didnt realise was it was with the underage players and they were just learning to lift properly. It actually worked out well as myself and 1 of the other coaches in the club were able to do our own stuff while the lads were being shown things by the S&C coach and we could then supervise them a bit.

Anyway, I hadnt lifted properly in a long time so I gave myself the short term goal of getting back to my PB in bench, deadlift and squat. After 2 months Im now lifting more than I ever did before, Ive beaten my 5RM, 3RM and 1RM in all 3 lifts, including lifting 200kg in the deadlift, which was always something I wanted to do. I havent really dropped any weight but my wife has said I look like I have so Im guessing any fat loss has been replaced by muscle gain, I still have a long way to go, I still dont eat as well as I should but the success in the gym has inspired me to push on a bit and be better with that. Ive also signed up for a Pilates class at work and that gooseberry fool is tough, I thought it would be some stretches and poses and youd come out feeling relaxed, turns out its a serious workout and some of it is near impossible for me right now. Gonna stick with it though, only have 4 weeks of it left but Ill see how far I can go in that time.

haha yeah ive not done Pilates but i imagine its a strawberry float ton of core work and that gooseberry fool will wreck you alright. Congrats on the lifting, esp 200kg DL is awesome man.
I did 135kg squat on Sunday, but it was rough going. So i just did 130 last night 5x5. I still cant get great depth on the squats but i do my best. Like even with an empty bar i still cant go as low as some people i see in the gym. I wonder if its just the way im built. Didnt go to Judo this week either, still mulling over whether i want to join it fully.

It starts off nice and easy but before you know it youre doing crunches with your legs in the air, your hands bouncing up and down beside you and your brain wondering why the strawberry float you ever thought this was a good idea!

Took this photo this morning. Excuse the bed hair.

Got the PornHub themed vest for free. I don't wear it in public.

Had a few people (women only) say I was losing weight too fast. Whilst I think I'm making good gainz. Gonna send them this pic and see if they change their minds. :datass:

I work with people who did that and they all got gooseberry fool tattoos, don't do that.

Seriously though good luck man, do you do any sort of endurance training/mountain climbing at the moment?

Thanks mate - do not intend to get a tattoo of any kind in my life, never mind a gooseberry fool three peaks one  I’m fairly fit - run a decent amount and have climbed of much tougher mountains than these three which have involved climbing almost sheer faces off track - it’s just the back-to-back nature which will be the challenge.

Anyone in here take supplements? The difference between the rest of my workouts this week and today's are stark. Today I actually remembered to take my Essential Amino Energy drink and I just felt more focused and "with it" during the workout, and I wasn't knackered at the end of it (quite the opposite, actually), even though I spent the first half of the day on my feet at work. It could of course just be a placebo effect, but I think I'm gonna continue to take it for as long as I feel it's of benefit.

Took the supplement for my morning workout (just to see I wasn't imagining things on Saturday) and once again, compared to when I'm off it, I had stacks more energy, concentration and next to no lethargic thinking or movements. Yup, I think I've turned into a supplement split

Try Creatine. Cheap and absolutely works. Makes the recovery between work sets so much easier.

creatine is great. +1
dont bother with that loading bollocks - 1-2tsp a day with a flavoured drink to wash it down (tastes disgusting).

It has no flavour whatsoever?

I load it up in a tea spoon and dunk it in my mouth like some cinnamon challenge and then sip of water and mix in my mouth that way. :slol:

Creatine monohydrate. Maybe you're using CEE?

Wanted to change my programme up a bit as I was finding one of the days a bit unfulfilling and it's been 6 months now so a good time to change things up. I found this https://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/4-day-power-muscle-burn-workout-split.html 4 day split which has most of the lifts and exercises that I like but ads a bit more for triceps which I feel I've been lacking.

I just wondered what people think? I tried the shoulders and tricep workout today and it was pretty good, I'm just not keen on the high rep low weight stuff. Don't get me wrong, 2 sets of 40 lateral raises was a killer but I didn't find it particularly rewarding. I like to keep the weights higher and reps to 5-8. Would I be missing the point of the programme if I just reduced the reps?

I want to dips, wide pull ups and potentially press ups so I will.change it slightly.

Also, do any of you do French press regularly?
