How are folk getting on?

Does anyone else struggle with volume on their lower back? My current program calls for 2 days of back squats and a day of deadlifts, but even skipping the second session of back squats I feel as though I'm permanently on the verge of becoming a cripple

All good here. Being doing more weight based stuff than I used to and my smart shirt chest size has gone up for the right reasons :) PB'd my 10k this morning (50:56) on a reasonably hilly route. 2 weeks until great south run :)

Hate being ill, only just back at the gym in four weeks and have gone from 9.2% Body Fat to 10%

Doesn't sound much but it is to me and I can tell :shifty:

I find it's such a tricky balance. Also, apparently your lower back heals roughly has as fast as your abs, so you have to keep this in consideration too. I found a lot of what I thought was my back being too tight was in fact my legs, they must have been shifting me in an odd way since stretching and foam rolling did help a bit.

I took it easy the first two weeks after my failed tri, but I'm slowly getting back into things now. My main priority right now is to lose weight, and this is going well. Down a few Kg in a couple of weeks. I'm slowly getting back into cardio now and once I get close to my goal weight I'll introduce weights again too, which shouldn't be too long at this rate.

3 weeks ago, I did 100KG bench press 1RM and it was tough AF.

Friday, I did bench press for a very easy 100KG 3x2. No lift off, no spot. Filmed in 4K. :datass:

I've also since my last post managed to do 10 strict pull ups. Super happy with that.

Had hypoxic training this morning as part of a friend's research study. Our lab rules instruct you to stop testing if O2 sats get below 80%. Mine dropped to 71% without him noticing  :dread: I've not gone that low before. Quite the experience. Don't think I recommend though.

It's an amazing gym!

Look at how many power racks it has! You can have 12 people doing squats at once. Plus there's usually enough rolling benches to bring them to the racks and use as a bench press in case the 4 proper ones are all in use.

Silly question but does anyone know how much these weigh?

Are they 2kg?

Normally half a plate of the machine they go on, I think I've seen at least 2 different variants before.

What are they for? Always saw them lying around my last gym?

You can place them on top of the weights on machines like the lat pull down to have a weight in between two regular weights, making the incremental increase more manageable.

Say normal you could originally have to go in increments of 7kg, the free weight would be 3.5kg so you can place it on top and have 24.5kg.

Okay, I partially take back my love for easyGym. I went during peak hours today and it was obscenely busy. There were literally hundreds of people. I can never normally go during off-peak hours except for weekends, so... bollocks! :(

What times are you going? I go Saturday, Monday and Wednesday. Saturday is around 6pm and Monday/Wednesday is around 8.15PM. Never have to wait for the equipment I want.

Although there is a Pure Gym and Virgin Active are 2 minutes walk away whilst a local leisure gym and "The Gym" are about 7-8 minutes drive away. Could help make easyGym less busy.

During the week I'll be there between around 5.15pm-7.00pm, so couldn't be much worse really :fp:. There are plenty of other gyms around, but I'm in a very highly populated area.
