Was able to squat 5x6 at 80kg after an hour's cardio last night, which is probably an indication that I should move the weight up a bit next leg day. Ideally I'd like to be back up at my PB of 120kg(or four of my dog) by the end of September. I'm chest pressing at 60kg now as well, which is PB kind of level for that so I'm clearly getting stronger.

Annoyingly enough, I'm not losing any weight. Been hitting the gym, weights and cardio, five times a week for three weeks since I hurt my foot and still sit in at 90kg on the scales. Keeping track of what I eat, too. I'd like to think I'm losing fat and gaining muscle, but I don't even think I am.

Good work!!

I got up to 60kg 5x10 last week, 5 weeks post-op (knee...not sex change!)

Making good progress accordingto Physio, albeit with a compel of clicks that are now there, but I think the main drawback is psychological. I seem reluctant to do things that is not usually give a second thought to! Just cautious about doing too much too soon maybe

Great work Cora, I'm sure your muscle mass will be increasing even if it's not immediately evident - I always have the same issue when starting back up at the gym, takes a while to be really sure that while the scales stay the same my fat is lessening. Got any excess sugar/shite in your diet that you could cut down on to make sure?

I'm in the exact same position as you just now cp, shoulders still coming along and I'm slowly upping all my lifts but I'm really reluctant to push it hard. Get the clicks and everything. Whereas before I wouldn't have thought twice about banging out a few more reps on any given lift once it starts getting hard, now once I feel even the slightest streets I'm stopping. Hopefully it'll only be another month or so in this state and I can properly get back on it, and start incorporating more taxing lifts on my shoulder like chin ups.

Going to hit 130kg 3x6 on the deadlift today anyway which isn't too appalling, the numbers are rising quickly for it at least.

Well, managed 125 instead, it's 40C and humid as strawberry float outside and the gym inexplicably had all its doors open. Was like trying to lift in a sauna.

After this weekend I'll be off the booze and junk food for a month before I go travelling. Gonna see how much difference I can realistically make in that time frame.

Yeah Ian, my diet went to gooseberry fool for six weeks after a breakup so I've taken serious steps to cut the crap.

My mate's back home from China next Thursday for a month and I had a goal of 20 gym sessions in 22 days from finding out to him touching down, and no junk food. strawberry floated it and missed a couple of extra days, and got a Chinese in last Wednesday but I'm motoring away and it's been good to get back in about it. Going for the 90kg squat tonight, 5x6. Will report back

Great work brer, how long you been going for? Been reading around it a little bit and it does sound as though everyone gets beaten down for a fair while when starting until they properly know the ropes.

It's been years since I've been inside a gym thanks to a disc herniation/sciatica. I do swimming 3x a week (3/4 of a mile) and have done since August 2015.

However, last Saturday I went bouldering in Dublin, I had absolutely brutal DOMS in my forearms, biceps and abs, plus a few other muscles too. Absolutely crippled by it, struggled to change gears whilst driving and I still have very minor DOMS.

I am checking out a gym after work tomorrow and will give some light weightlifting a go, I dread to think how bad the DOMS will be from the and how weak I'll have become. My 1 rep maxes used to be:

Squat 182.5KG
Bench 112.5KG
Deadlift 190KG

Done at approx 92KG bodyweight. I'm now about 87KG after weighing around 104kg in July 2015.

Testosterone E, Tren and DNP

Cocaine. Lots and lots of cocaine.

:shifty:

I went from doing zero exercise to swimming 3x a week and I'm a good enough swimmer that I can burn a huge amount of calories from it, I still have a decent amount of muscle from my powerlifting days too. I eat essentially the same size breakfast, lunch and dinner that I normally would have, but no snacks whatsoever inbetween or desert after dinner.

Half tempted to post before and after pictures.

Get on it, not enough pics of half naked men in here :shifty:

It is good to see progress pics though, already wishing I'd taken some in May when I'd had months off thanks to my shoulder. Can see plenty of noticeable improvements already, staying steady at 85kg but definitely increasing muscle mass and lowering body fat.

I'm sitting at just under 90kg, according to my slightly dodgy scales ( :slol: ). I'd like to be around 85kg by the end of the year, but with a good amount of muscle on me. That's the goal.

How tall are you? I'm actually looking to go the other way, I want to be over 90 by the end of the year with a low body fat %

Upped my bench to 65kg yesterday, progress on bench always seems so slow for me. Any tips/variations that people have found helpful?

How often do you bench?

Do dips on the days you don't bench (eg. do chest 3 times a week, bench twice, dips once in between) which help to strengthen and develop your chest and shoulders.

One way I found helpful to overcome plataeus was to do heavy bench eg. Monday 3x6, then take off five kilos and hit split reps up to 30 on the Friday, or do eg. 3x12 with the lighter weight. Then the following Monday try up it by either 2.5 or 5kg.

Beyond that the usual - eat more carbs and protein, sleep lots.

Hit 70kg 3x10 on the bench today, pretty happy with that. Shoulder wasn't too sore. Going to try 3x6 75kg on Monday although I'm partying a lot this weekend so might not work out.

Cheers!

Generally do bench once and dips once a week (going 4 times a week, two upper body, two lower body).

I'll try the heavy then drop you suggested. Sometimes I think it is a mental part as well as I go to the gym on my own now (used to have a gym buddy before), so spotting and that extra motivation is lacking.

So this was taken earlier today, just after my first weightlifting session in over 4 years:

I know you're probably diving in the third picture, but it does look like you're just slithering down the rockface like a seal.

I went out and tried some hill sprints for the first time this evening, as I wanted to try some HIIT cardio rather than the usual boring 5km jog. Absolutely knackered myself, and felt pretty rough by the end of it, but it was good fun, and having recovered, I feel pretty good for it. Definitely more of a pumped up feeling than you get after a steady, longer, run.

Some work David, looking good 8-)

Also like HIIT when I can be arsed :slol: 20 secs sprints 40 secs off for 20 mins is awesone.

Think need to push myself more, can do more than think. Managed PB bench of 100kg 2 x 2 on a whim after doing about 6 sets before it of 80kg × 10 x 3, 90kg x 5 x 2, 95kg x 5 (bit random but kept seeing how much could go up)
