in fact when youre deadlifting 4 plates or more the bar bends upwards so that when the middle of the bar hits a certain height its actually negative weight at that point. but in all other cases the bar counts.

Trapped nerve in my shoulder just totally stopping me doing anything upper body at the moment. Its been irritating me for a few months but its getting very painful now. Just a hot point of pain in what feels like between the top of my arm and the shoulder joint, and just radiates pain all down my arm. The problem is that every time it happens (which doesnt appear to be at any particular angle of movement) the pain just means all strength drops out of the arm.

Proper shitter.

Woke up on Monday and thought I was sore/tired from the gym on Sunday, later realised it was me being ill and not DOMS :slol:

Was going quite well in the last couple of weeks as well. Felt a lot weaker these last couple of days

Its really hurting me today though and it doesnt even have any load on it. Bad times.

depends on how severe the sprain is - give it two weeks off and then come back do some reverse flies, external rotations, no pain.

You really think I need more time than that? My strength is going to evapourate if Im not doing anything!

Edit: Ive taken some anti-inflammatories and noticed that the pain had gone so I just did a stretch and rotated my shoulder into the worst pain Ive felt from it yet

you have to listen to your body. if its a sprain then you cant push into pain during your recovery its just going to make it worse

if its a tendon or muscle then you can work through some pain (think 3-4 out of 10) to speed up healing

to put it in perspective i sprained my ac in November and its still giving me trouble now (precisely because i've tried to work through the pain)

One of the personal trainers was working with two guys on the smith machine and I noticed the had four 5kg plates, and since I was looking for 2 I asked to take a couple.

"Sorry mate, using them"
"But you have two 10s"
"Supersets mate"
"But there's no other fives free, can't you just use the 10s instead of four 5s?"
"No, supersets. We add more as we go along"

This might have gone back and forth a few more times until I gave up and grabbed a few 2.5s. The gym was full, and he wants to hoard the plates due to laziness or complete inability to math. Prick.

 what a knob.

PT in the gym was criticising my front squat form on Friday, she works at the gym so figured I'd just humour her and took some weight off before trying it her way; managed one rep before it felt like my lower back snapped, could barely walk all weekend. Three times I've listened to people criticising my form on squats in the years I've been lifting and every time it's ended up damaging my back, never again.

Anyway my shoulder's still strawberry floated but I'm being sensible for once and not working through the pain so constantly just doing front squats and cardio then away. Losing hefty muscle up top but at least my legs are looking pretty banging.

Also I strawberry floating hate January in gyms. Hopefully they start dropping off soon. Seriously, why does everyone start at the same time it's strawberry floating retarded, if you join in months like October/November gyms will often run promos to get you in and the place is so much quieter. Makes no sense whatsoever to wait.

Normally do the gym at 10am or so. Had to wait until 3pm today for work reasons and it was absolutely rammed. Horrific.

I kick the door down and walk towards the squat rack. If someone is in it I tell them they have 5 minutes to finish or they'll be getting a 25 wigged at their fat head. Gotta show you mean business.
