Really looking forward to the Frampton fight tonight. Great guy and fantastic fighter, really hoping I can get my hands on a pirated copy tomorrow before seeing the result.

Not sure what to have it down is, fancy Frampton to win - probably on points again but maybe a late stoppage. Bet it'll be a strawberry floating great fight anyway.

Just got myself a Fitbit Charge 2 today. My first ever fitness monitor...don't know why I never got one until now. Really like the Apple/California feel it has to the brand also...makes you want to go out and exercise more...except it rains too much here.

Just realised I posted that in the wrong thread, never mind.

What's the point of the fitbit? Like, what does it show, just your distance covered and heart rate?

Watched the video, that... looks pretty pointless tbh.

Fitbit isn't a good brand if you're using it for athletic purposes. The HR monitor is far less reliable than competition brands (Polar, Tom Tom, Garmin). It's useful for people trying to be more active and increase step counts (something I wholeheartedly back) but I don't recommend it for athletic populations...

I understand where you're coming from but apart from tracking your heart rate 24/7 which can then give you a good idea of your health. It also has training programs within the app with some cool features like virtual tours of places like Yosemite so you can imagine your running through a track there with your steps.
The automatic tracking of your sleep is good too so you can improve your sleeping patterns effortlessly as you only have to wear the device to sleep.

See above re: Heart Rate. Fitbit isn't what you want for that. Sleep tracking is fairly useful though, actually. I was given a fitbit last year and the sleep stats seemed to be fairly accurate. All it did was highlight how little I sleep and stressed me out, causing me to sleep less. It's good for keeping a general track of step count and making you aware when you're sat down for too long.

Failed 170kg deadlift.
Totally stalled the first effort, quick mental slap round the face, then narrowly missed the second. Jsut couldn't keep my hand going and get off my thigh. It will come

About a month ago I decided to start properly stretching my legs at the beginning of every session, rather than just when they're bothering me, since I've always been annoyed by my lack of mobility and couldn't reach the top of my ankles when bending over with straight legs. Today, for the first time in my life, I touched my toes.

Also, I bought a bike online last night so to force me to try to do another triathlon. I've got my eye on one in...May, think it is. Works out well since I turn 30 in June so would like to undo last year's failure before then.

Nicely done TNAG, I'm still a fair bit from touching my toes but yoga's being a godsend for me. Do it every rest day and I can really feel the difference in the gym already, my limbs feel looser which will hopefully make them less prone to tearing.

I was thinking of fitness goals for the year. I don't think there's anything particularly remarkable to achieve for myself, but I would like a steady consistency of good eating and training. If I can consistently practice yoga, dance and maybe some bodywork while maintaining a varied, healthy diet I'll be pleased.

Nice, looks smart as.

I'm dreading the gym today, was going nicely but I strawberry floated a long weekend by getting messed up and barely eating while skipping all my yoga sessions. Muscles are consequently feeling tight and sore and I feel weak/light, not gonna be a fun session.

Yeah it actually went surprisingly well, sure you can push yourself through it too! Managed to hit 3x6 at 85kg on the bench which is the heaviest I've lifted since tearing my shoulder over a year ago :D

Didn't even experience any muscle pain with it. Yoga

Definitely should if you can spare the time. It's already helped my flexibility to the extent I'm hopeful I'll actually manage to try out BJJ in the fairly near future without instantly tearing or pulling a muscle. Which would be nice.

email from a fellow GRcader:

I've been sticking to the working out - 30mins kettlebell, 30min run every other night. Lifting the bell doesn't get any easier so I'll probably have to do some strength work on top of the rest - mainly my left arm, the usual.

Get this - part of the run lap is up a hill. A street on a hill to be exact; I run up it like times. Anyway - I was running up it one night and there was a skip right at the top of it, so thought I could get rid of a mattress that was under a bed once I'd finished the run. I ran past the skip a few times and there was no one about, so decided it was time to get rid and I went and got the mattress and ran - literally ran up this hill to avoid being seen - dragging the mattress behind me by the two handles.

By the time I got to the skip I had *NO* energy to actually lift the mattress into the strawberry floating skip. Each time I tried I got weaker so I had to wait 8 or 9 minutes before I could lift it in. Of course cars and people decided to go this way and they all seen me loitering beside a skip with a double mattress half destroyed by being dragged up a hill.

Meh, lol - got it in eventually!

I have finally gotten over the point where one of my belt notches was too tight, and one was too loose, and my waist must have shrink a little since I was able to go for the smaller one today. Weight is still basically the same it's been for months, so guess that's a sign my recomp is going well.

Just signed up to do a triathlon in May which is the same course as the one i failed to do in September. Got myself a new bike a few weeks ago, so hopefully it'll work out this time.

Oh, I should clarify, it's a sprint triathlon, so the shortest distance. Hopefully work up to longer ones in future, though.
