We’re gooseberry fool mate, if you bet on us then you get what you deserve.

The game was poor, we have no threat up front anymore and the defence was just shocking. Let in two poor goals and Middlesbrough where happy to just let us keep possession.

I miss Flint

If anyone wants to make some fairly easy money, bet on Oxford to be relegated from League 1. Dreadful. Worst team I've seen at Fratton in a long time.

Yeah Oxford were pretty awful, we should have been 3 or 4 up by half time.

Really like the look of Thompson. Had a brilliant first game yesterday (was MotM) and looks an upgrade on Close in every way. He’s the sort of tidy, dynamic midfielder we were missing last season.

So...Sunderland are going to run rampant over League 1 this season, aren't we?

Yes, run rampant all the way to 4th place. ;)

In all seriousness, I wouldn't underestimate the league - they've had a good start but it's not an easy run.

Yeah, it's great to see a positive start from us for a change but it's a bit early to be thinking we're going to storm the league. Lovely to be 3-0 at half time though, not used to that.

Forgive me for getting excited. It's been a few years since I had anything to get excited about.

To be fair we started pretty crap last season - only took 3 from 12 in our first four games and that cost us the league ultimately. I do think Sunderland will bounce right back up.

Sounds like they played very well today, even Cattermole is getting praise when usually he's slaughtered by the fans. Encouraging signs, especially with McGeady, McGeouch, Wyke and Watmore yet to come into the team.

I hope Oviedo stays, he's a class above.

The English Football League will stream matches live online in the UK and Ireland for the first time on Tuesday, with 31 games shown in all in midweek.

The service, for midweek games outside of bank holidays and not shown live on Sky Sports, will cost £10 per match.

Fans will be able to view a game via their team's digital platform iFollow, used by 58 of the 72 EFL clubs.

Overseas supporters have been able to stream every non-televised game online since the start of last season.

Seven of the 10 midweek Championship games will be available for streaming online, including Ipswich's trip to Derby on Tuesday and Wigan's visit to Stoke on Wednesday.

Aston Villa, Leeds and Sunderland are among the 14 EFL clubs not signed up to iFollow, but will have the opportunity to deliver a similar service.

Matches played between 14:45 and 17:15 on Saturdays will continue to be blocked from live streaming.

I think Sunderland's service was available for yesterday's game. It was also £10. :dread:

I gather if you live abroad or use a vpn you can do some sort of season pass deal but I have no idea what the pricing is.

I think for Swans it is £7.99 a game or £14.99 a month or £110 for a full season pass. I don’t know if they control the pricing or not.

I haven't used Villa's service but I've heard it's pretty shoddy. For £10 a match I'd want it guaranteed to work and it sounds like that's often not the case. :fp:
I just want to be able to watch every match and, ideally, pay the club directly. Until then, it's streaming all the way.

Good grief, that was an enjoyable game (the joys of the championship)! Shame we didn't win after being ahead twice. But so many positives from that game.

Really thought we'd struggle and lose against Leeds after our performance v Birmingham the other night.

Most people on the way out of the ground were commenting they thought we'd get stuffed so happy despite possibly not getting what we deserved. Just happy to see entertaining football back!

It's funny how many demoted teams' fans I've heard say that - for a lot of teams who fight for Premier League survival every year it's a massive refreshment dropping into a league where they're actually competitive and winning matches, rather than getting stuffed off one of the big six or seven teams every other week. Even for Blackburn, who were absolutely terrible for the first season or two, it was a huge - and welcome - change.

Scant consolation maybe, for not being in the top league where the real money is, but still.
