I think what he wants to hear is that we are all actually so scared of Forest this coming season that we are staying out of this topic and keeping ourselves busy to stop the fear eroding our souls, whether we are out gardening, maybe hoovering the curtains or watching Brazil-Belgiuk and waiting for England's quarter final.

Let's face it, if they want to challenge, Forest need to spend money. They narrowly avoided relegation on the last day two years ago, and were something like 17th and 22 points off Derby last year.

And it's fine saying you made £32m and have spent £24m, but what generally eats up the money are player wages. It's normally increasing the wage bill beyond your means, rather than just the transfer fees. We'll find out how much Forest are stretching things in a few years. Very few championship clubs operate at a profit and generally when they want to push on, if they don't have the parachute payments, there's always that element of risking everything FFP-wise on making the Premier League (as Bournemouth did - they were hit with a £4m fine the other day, despite breaking the rules in their promotion season; Leicester did it too). If you're lucky enough to get promoted, the paltry fines greatly offset the money spent breaking the FFP rules and what you gain even in one PL season.

http://swissramble.blogspot.com/2016/05 ... e.html?m=1

Presumably Forest's spending isnt over yet either. And weren't your debts paid off by your new owners? That's not really "living within your means" either, right? It's being the lucky beneficiary of a wealthy owner, like however many teams before you. So whilst Forest made money from player sales, there existing debts were cleared by the chairman, not by funds within the football club or generated through their footballing income.

Of course, Boro have a (relatively) wealthy owner in Steve Gibson, albeit a local millionaire rather than a foreign billionaire. We still have the PL money so don't have to worry about FFP this year. If we didn't though, we would also have to walk the tightrope between being compliant or being competitive. That's generally the life of a championship club, especially if you're down there for a while.

I think it's more about people viewing you as a bit hypocritical considering what you said about Wolves last year (who apparently didn't break FFP, though you only get the real picture of any club once the finances are released down the line).

We won't see the true cost of Forest's spending for a while yet, and a lot while also depend on where they finish in the league this season.

But no, no-one's scared of Forest. No team hoping to challenge for promotion should be frightened of any other teams down there.

I like Karanka, and hope he does well, to a certain degree. He's currently basically doing what he did with Boro - consolidate and survive the first half season, then rebuild in the summer. It was actually his second full season when we got promoted and we generally a more rounded side.

I'm partial to some Championship clubs because I like the forumites who support them, or I have mates who follow them and they give a good account of their team's support to me - Leeds, Bristol City, Derby, 'Boro and a few others, but ultimately I couldn't care any less what any of these clubs, or your Forests and Villas or whoever do.

In Championship terms I'm focused on Blackburn doing well and adjusting to the league, and making sure they don't find themselves sucked into a relegation battle as Wigan did last time they came up. That's all that's important to me this season.

Nice to see a few of you have woken up. I'm not looking for anyone to say they're scared of us . No one was scared of Wolves last season were they?

Swansea have been linked with Joel Asoro from Sunderland, 19 year old Swedish winger. Don't know much about him but nice to be linked with someone as seemingly everyone is leaving.

Asoro's got a lot of potential. He's quick, scored a couple of good goals for us and looked exciting in a few games, obviously quite raw though. He struggled when he got more game time towards the end of last season but that was in a poor team full of young kids where he was expected to be the main man for goals, which was ridiculous considering how little first-team football he's played.

He seems quite arrogant which is probably a good thing for a forward. The fee doing the rounds on Twitter is about £2m which could be a steal in today's market. I hope that would include a sell on clause.

Rumours abound that Henry will be replacing Bruce.

Not sure what to think of this news if it eventually comes true.

Players like Hazard and Lukaku have already sighted Henry for their good form in the World Cup, so who knows? Maybe he could be good.

Also. Our new owners are major players with adidas. So everytime a forest or blues fan buys a shirt. They're lining our pockets.

As much as I don't rate him very highly, I think it'd be pretty risky to pot Bruce with two weeks to go to the start of the season. And that's before you consider the likely millions it would cost to do so.

Still, the club is safe, we'll likely get a proper price for Grealish and assuming we can bring in a couple of new players, we should be good to challenge at the top end of the table again.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Just renewed my membership and therefore ownership of my club today :datass: Feels good man. I hope Wimbledon's doesn't continue to be quite such a unique thing - I feel like we bypass a lot of the issues that others are destined to suffer. Obviously we pay a heavy price in terms of measuring our ambition, but so be it.

Had a tasty 2-1 win against Premier League opposition yesterday, putting 2 past a decent Brighton side. Seems like our swathe of new transfers are gelling nicely.

Well that Villa news came out of nowhere for me. Saw glowy's post and wondered what it meant, then checked some of my usual sites and there we go. Good news, but we're still pretty screwed from a FFP perspective as far as I'm aware, so doesn't help with offloading some of our better players.

Quite like the new kit as well.

I need to catch up on the Villa news myself as I assumed we were pretty much dead weeks ago so have been avoiding any updates. Have we been rescued then?
