Arrived today from amazon. The Mega Drive has been re-released thanks to BLAZE, and contains 15 built-in games as well as a cartridge slot that can play any Mega Drive game from any region. It also comes with two standard controllers. Thought I'd take some pics:
Image
Here's the box, which shows you what the console now looks like as well as the controllers.
Image
Here's the console out of the box. Very small and light, and now uses an AV cable.
Image
First game I could find was Robocop Vs Terminator (which I played again and is still awesome ^_^). Just showing how small the console really is in comparision to an old Mega Drive box.
Image
Last picture is the controller. Plays just like the original ones, and is pretty small. It uses the same type of plug as the old ones, so you could probably plug in your old controllers.

The games that are included are Alex Kidd, Alien Storm, Altered Beast, Arrow Flash, Bonanza Bros, Columns 3, Crack Down, Decap Attack, ESWAT, Fatal Labyrinth, Flicky, Gain Ground, Golden Axe, Shadow Dancer and Sonic & Knuckles. Had a go on Sonic & Knuckles and it worked perfectly.

Now to go find my other games. Time to get nostalgic people!

I have 90 Mega Drive games for sale if you're interested.

These things look great, tempted to pick one up as there are some great games that i'd like to play again but don't want the hassle of getting out the old mega drive. Wonder if it works with the 32X?

I bought it from Amazon, which is a bit cheaper but is temporarily out of stock at the moment. Really want to go back to Ghouls and Ghosts now!

£39.99 for the second best console of 19 years ago? What a rip off!

Wow, it's about the size of the N64's PSU.

And I guess most of that size comes from the need to fit the width of an old Mega-Drive cartridge in there.

strawberry float off was it the best. It couldn't even do 3D! And Sonic was a poor man's Mario. No branching world map, liner levels with only one exit, it was like being back in 1985.

It wasn't trying to be Mario, SEGA's attempt at a Mario style game would most likely be Alex Kidd which certainly isn't in the same league as either Sonic or Mario.

As for 3D, Virtua Racing says hi.

A better point of reference would be Steel Talons, since that game didn't, to the best of my knowledge, have any extra hardware inside the cart.

Starfox is a better game. Virtua Racing's 3D is better, but tied to a simple racing game.
