I'd take Virtua Racing over Starfox any day (hell I'd take it over Lylat Wars).

But Virtua Racing wasn't even that good when it first came out!

You are clearly a mentalist.

Virtua Racing was awesome!

I remember buying it for some crazy price like £59.99 and spending hours and hours playing it against my dad in split screen, we were both hooked.

I even later re-bought it on the 32x as Virtua Racing Deluxe which was even better.

If they ever do an XBLA release of the arcade version I'd definitely buy it.

Mega Drive was an awesome machine, I'm sorely tempted to pick one of these up but then it'd make having bought the MEga Drive compilation on 360 a bit pointless. How well does it work with cartridge games for anyone that's bought one? I've heard these things have problems running some games.

What is the point in strawberry floating trolling a thread for people who want to talk about a muched loved console?

I have no objection to you taling about it. However, paying £40 for one is clearly mental when you could buy a Gamecube for that.

You're also getting 15 games for your £40 though.

I never had a Mega Drive (SNES FTW) but I've played my fair share of MD games while at a friend's house years ago. If I could still find cheap MD games then I'd be tempted but at £40.. no dice.

Wow. How deluded are you? The Gamecube surpasses the Mage Drive in every single conceivable way. Better games, better hardware and better controller.

Thanks.

Not sure I really qualify though, I wouldn't call myself a 'master manipulator of thoughts and behaviour'.

Tis the sad the truth. Good consoles die young. Although the DC fishing rod controller still lives on with Wii.

You appare to be confusing the Gamecube with the Wii there. The differences are subtle but many. The processor, whilst descended from the one used in the Gamecube, is faster and more efficient, it has roughly double the RAM, a faster GPU with more capabilities, built-in WiFi, the ability to accept two sizes of disks, and SD card slot, Bluetooth motion-sensing controllers (plus the ability to use legacy Gamecube controllers and Memory cards for Gamecube games) and two USB ports.

You may have missed these changes, as well as the whole change in design of the casing and controllers, but they are there.

Might as well call a Pentium a 486.

Those 15 games on the virtual console would cost you well over £40, it's worth it in my opinion, a great bargain. Of course the Gamecube is a better console, the Mega Drive is nearly 20 years old, it's like comparing an Atari to an Xbox 360.

There's no denying the Mega Drive is a great machine, why is this thread turning into a flame way.

Oh and I laughed out loud at the, "Isn't a gamecube £169.99 comment" followed by a very specky reply, lighten up

Better not fella. Afterall, the 486 was better than the early pentiums that replaced it. Unless you are suggesting something about the Wiis quality. :P

Nothing wrong with preferring the Mega Drive to the Gamecube, I personally do simply because of the games library. Obviously the Gamecube is far ahead of the MD in some ways, but it's the games that count! They're both excellent consoles anyway, it's not something worth arguing :P And besides:

lighten up

So the general consensus is that this is good? Worth buying for my friend?
