The nostalgic toys thread

Exactly what it says, this is the place to post images and memories of your favourite childhood toys. Let's aim for the more obscure stuff, though. What did you have that nobody else did?

I was born in 79, so most of my toys were 80s - I had a load of Star Wars stuff. Beyond that, though, many of my toys were second hand, so massively predated the early 80s.

I was always fond of this, an official Evil Knievel stunt bike:

I also had a Viewmaster:

And even a Viewmaster projector:

However, we had a set of Mighty Mouse slides and I was too scared of Powerful Puss to watch Mighty Mouse on the wall. :dread:

Go!

...the Evil Knievel motorbike was ace. Great call, Poser!

I loved this....

The amazing Steer-N-Go! You could affix any Matchbox car to the track via a little magnetic device. The road disc turned at a constant speed* and you used the steering wheel to guide the car around the track. It was terrific fun :-).

* Just remembered - there were two speeds that you selected by "changing gear".

EDIT: I was lucky enough to get the toy for free one Christmas. My m&d didn't have a lot of cash at the time, but a neighbour worked in organising exhibitions and he was arranging a toy show. He got the Steer-N-Go for free and gave it to me as a present that Christmas. Good times!

We (me and my brother) had a Viewmaster.

We also had one of these:

I used to love that thing. Then numerous MASK, Thundercats, Batman, Ghostbusters, etc figures and toys.

Two other toys I had stick in my mind, but I can't remember what they were called. One was basically a musical yo-yo that played a tune as you used it (guess that doesn't really need a 'name', it's fairly self-explanatory, but I'd love to get one again) and the other was a camera that took 'photos', but I'm pretty sure they were kinda pre-loaded images that never changed, and you had to use water somewhere in the process. Bizarre, but I remember it.

That looks amazing. I always loved toys that 'did stuff'.

It has reminded me of this:

Image

It's a Terrahawks game and it was the absolute gooseberry fool. You moved the spaceship around the track with a wheel, while a jet of air, which you also controlled moved a small, polystyrene Zeroid up and down - floating, properly floating - around the obstacles.

I was the daddy every time it came to 'bring a toy to school' day. :datass:

Jesus strawberry float the nostalgia. Had loads of Monsters in my Pocket, as for Mighty Max, I had the skull in the top left, the spider and the snake, as well as the bigger Dragon Island set

However I now remember Manta Force, that stuff was THE gooseberry fool:

Also Starcom, that gooseberry fool was cool too. I loved how all the smaller vehicles folded down to fit in the bigger ships, which primed the clockwork unfolding again afterwards. I think I had pretty much all the stuff in this picture, I love how everything is just covered in guns:

Same. Also:

I found the box for this when we sorted our old loft out to move. I hope that I find the actual toy again, it was cool.

Absolutely loved manta force and starcom toys. They were favourite toys for quite some time. As u said the beauty of being able to fit the smaller ones in the larger ones. Great use of magnets on the starcom toys as well.

My dad rang the manufacturer up and ordered more pods then numbered them so I'd have a home for each vehicle

I had this, and also his trailer.

Also had loads of Star Wars figures from the first 3 films:

My favourite toys though were probably the Micronauts. I first came across this chap whilst on holiday:

Image

..and my collection grew from there. Even though I got this chap almost 40 years ago ( :dread: ) I still have him. His little motorised engine packed in some years back though.

For anyone not familiar with the Micronauts, this is what they looked like:

Image

I probably had about 10 of these. I think we still have about 5 or 6 (in an ice cream box with the one above). I do have one sitting on my desk (with only 1 foot and an arm broken at the elbow which is OK as long as no one touches it).

KNex and Meccano were always my gooseberry fool.

Also I had every single Pog and every Tazo. Plus I had all of those Looney Tunes things that werent quite either but I forget their names. Had a friend of the family who worked at the place they made them so I just used to get complete set boxes to make all the other kids jealous.
