Dan is 90% facetious, he just carries the persona well. His anxiety book is probably the best look into him out of character so to speak.

Austin earning some serious points for me with his thoughts on That Dragon, Cancer in this week's Beastcast.

We have different opinions on it (he liked it where I thought it was garbage), but I appreciate that he acknowledged that the game's artistic missteps ruin it. He had the same conflict I had in that it's hard to say that someone's poetry about their dead child is gooseberry fool, but it is. And despite how much he appreciated the game, he can't recommend it to everyone. Not because of what it is, but because of how poorly it executes.

With a lot of people rushing to declare its importance and bravery, heaping praise on how it made them cry into their keyboards, everyone seems to be ignoring just how bad it is.

If he was going there to replace Kuchera or Gies :dread: that'd be great.

I'm guessing he'll end up going to a publisher though. Shame.

That kinda came out of the blue, got the impression he was loving it there and was doing the stuff he really wanted to do. Itll be interesting to see how they handle it, theyll be down to 2 guys in NY now.

Jeff kept joking he was going to "the enemy", and everyone was being sincere in their responses with "well, not really", so I guess a publisher makes sense. We'll find out later today, though.

The Adam Boyes / John Vignocchi / Dave Lang trainwreck combo was back to close out the E3 guest lineup last night. Pretty icy stuff between Boyes and Dan after this little exchange:

He was being diplomatic about it but you could tell he was mad. Every time Dan joined them on the sofa it just sucked all the energy out of him, so the rest of the GB crew had to keep pulling him away.

I think he was also a little miffed that nobody at all was talking about Spiderman, which (as a third party relations guy) was his baby.

A shame about Austin. I particularly enjoyed his insights during the press conferences this year and his interactions with the west crew.

I'll kinda miss Austin and kinda not. I appreciated where some of his discussions went, as the Beastcast went in-depth on some interesting subjects and was very different to the Bombcast, but I also thought that he was well full of himself, made everything about him way too often, and generally overpowered the Beastcast. A real faux-intellectual, IMO. He loves himself a bit too much, while I'm sure he would have a ready-to-go list of 50 things that 'keep him humble'.

Also, hopefully we now won't have to have 'the conversation' or talk about 'this space' every 5 seconds.

Polygon is the perfect fit for Austin.
