Yeah saw someone mention that feminism thing and it's all that comes up if you search twitter for Giant Bomb. Bit of a joke getting on their back for hiring two men.

Although it seems like it's the reaction of the community to the person who questioned the hiring that's caused the outrage.

My only interaction with Giant Bomb is to listen to their podcast every week and sometimes watch a QL on their site. I don't read the forums, and I have even less idea about the comings-and-goings of various personnel at the site. Started listening to the latest podcast yesterday and suddenly: two new guys. WTF..? I barely caught their names, but there was no attempt to explain who or why these new guys were at GB...

In nutshell can anyone tell me:

1. Why did Vinny move back to New York? Was it a new job, or is he still working for GB?
2. Why did Patrick move back to wherever he is (in the Mid-West somewhere, I think)..? Does he work for anyone other than GB?
3. The new guys - who are they and why have they been hired by GB?

Brad is a sad case. It's like watching a slow car crash. He used be fit and slim (not so long ago), now he's become a real Mr Tubby. I'm not sure that I can recall reading anything of his on the site in the past few months. He always seems indifferent, even disinterested, in the games he's discussing or playing in QLs.

EDIT: @ Cal

I don't know all the details, but Vinny pretty much left due to family reasons and they're using that as an opportunity to expand. He's joined Alex over there and still works for GB, I think they're looking to set up a new office there but have to wait until they get their new yearly budget sometime this month before they can really get started. I guess Patrick moved for similar reasons, San Francisco is supposed to be expensive as hell. Patrick just kind of does his own thing, but I don't think he works for anyone else.

The new hires are Dan Ryckert and Jason Oestreicher, formerly of Game Informer. As far as I can tell, Dan will be doing the kind of stuff Jeff and Brad does, and Jason will be helping Drew out on the video side. They've been hired because frankly GB needs it. With Ryan's passing and both Vinny & Patrick having moved, they desperately need new blood. Jeff, Brad and Drew can't realistically be expected to hold down everything on their own, and from what I've seen and heard of Dan, he's a really good fit for GB. Jeff has expressed interest in trying new things with the site lately so I'm not sure if that potentially means even more new hires in the future or if they're looking to really invest in the New York office, but I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.

Haven't heard the new guys yet but that's really good news. As others have said it's long overdue.

Bonus points for Dan Ryckert being a big wrestling fan.

Did giantbomb not cover the MS games com conference? I can find the Sony video but nothing for MS, and they didn't discuss it on the Bombcast, either.

Odd that they haven't covered it at all, though.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying this too. Very interesting to see a first timer's reaction to a lot of the MGS nonsense I've taken for granted for so long.

They should cover Headhunter and compare it to MGS2.

Only just started getting into podcasts. Downloaded last weeks Giant Bombcast for first time enjoyed very much 8-) Nearly 3 hours pretty hefty but awesome for shitty bus journeys to uni.
