Why?
I will only upgrade to 10, if the screen is better.

Input lag? Never experienced any of that on my OP3T.

Just pre-ordered the S9 Plus seeing as my Three contract is up on the 25th, so perfect timing. Was going to go with an S8 Plus but noticed there was about £2 difference in phones p/m. Going from an S7 Edge.

Part of the problem

Supporting the headphone jack and no notch is being part of the solution.

Actually true.

In other news, I did not realise my phone had been automatically uploading every single photo I've ever taken to Google Photos. I just found my album. It is, at the same time, extremely handy and utterly terrifying.

More than once I've accidentally downloaded an NSFW image then had it casually pop up next time I open Google Photos on whatever platform. Thankfully not to embarrassing results (yet).

Yeah, some of these I deleted for a reason and yet...here they are.

This is really scary.

So why is it part of the problem? I've obviously missed something. This will be my first new phone since the iPhone 6 plus.

You can control the folder it uploads, also if you only use Google photos to manage images rather than the default gallery when you delete it gives option to delete local and cloud.

There is a handy clean up option too that will delete the local versions clearing space, you'll still see everything as it keeps the thumbnail and pulls the pics as you view them.

It's more the fact that I cannot recall ever giving express permission to Google to copy all of my photos and upload them to the internet.

The battery on my S7 is strawberry floated now. It sits in my bag with everything but the essentials turned off and from full charge, by lunch time it is down to 60% :| No applications running in the background or anything.

My contract has now run it's course so I can go elsewhere, but jeeeeeesus at the prices of new phones. Good luck getting something comparable for anything like a decent price.

I wish I could easily replace the battery, because battery aside the phone is perfect. Still really fast and there's not a mark on it.

You will have when you opened the app, it doesn't just do it, it comes up and asks but like the Amazon prime thing most people don't read boxes and click to clear them.

I don't have the app. I never have. That's the point. I use the stock Android photo viewer that came installed on the phone which I never expressly gave permission to upload my photos (although I'm sure it was buried in a T&C somewhere)

As I say, that's my point. At no point can I recall agreeing to let Google copy all my photos to their servers. Why is that the default? It's a handy service but it should not be opt out. I received quite the shock last night realising the last 2 years of my life existed online in an album I did not know existed until I stumbled on it.

This is coming from someone reasonably tech savvy.

That's my point, you don't recall doing it, but you did, it isn't on by default, but does do a toast notification to say hey want to backup photos.

Hum.

HUM.

Either I need to read things more thoroughly or Google needs to notify people of the settings better. Probably both.

It's almost like people don't read the EULA in the excitement of setting up a new device.
