Set up a Google mail > Forward your Outlook mail to it > Slowly stop using your Outlook address because it's shite.

Just got a Pixel 2 XL. Feels good to be back on Android after a brief trip to Apple-Land.

Though I will say I miss Apple's media player. Any decent alternatives to the default music player? Been trying Media Monkey and it seems ok so far. Though I need to organise my PC music library properly as well (I've not done it in about a decade :dread: ).

A million times Poweramp. If you don't like the default UI you can download various skins for it.

So my 2nd Pebble Time Steel has come to the end of it's short life. First one I had lasted 6 months before battery life was drastically reduced (10 days between charges fell to 4) and the current one has just experienced extreme battery failure, just cannot hold any charge and only functions whilst the charger is connected.

Seems to me that there is probably a design flaw so won't be trying to get another Pebble which is disappointing because it is almost perfect for what I need. I'm now semi looking for a replacement. It doesn't need to be an all singing Android watch, I'm happy if it just gives call, text and app notifications (and also allows reading of texts and title of e-mails). I also want decent time between charges, not 1 or 2 day BS.

Anyone got any suggestions? The Xiaomi offerings seem quite good, 20 days use per charge but although it has notifications, doesn't seem to display texts or content from apps.

The only real alternative to Pebble-style smartwatches are the Fitbit watches, and since Fitbit bought Pebble I'd expect they'd be similar, but I don't really have much experience with non-Android Wear so I can't really recommend.

My last watch was a Moto 360 which was Android Wear and had a one-day battery life. I'm probably going to get a Ticwatch unless Google release their angelfish and swordfish watches soon.

Actually, found and ordered this

Looks like a Pebble successor for just £40.

I need to give my photos a bit of a sort, should I delete and file pictures in Google photos or my phone's gallery? I really don't want to do it twice.

You should just use Google Photos and ignore/uninstall your phone's gallery. If you delete it on Google photos it will also delete your backups (which you obviously have set up).

Google get a lot of gooseberry fool for some of their own apps, but Photos is truly a crown jewel. Being able to search your photos for keywords like "dog" etc is literally amazing.

Yeah photos rules, you can also clear the locks versions to free up space whilst leaving the backup in place and viewable in the app.

Shared albums are great too for albums where multiple people can add and view stuff. We have one for the little one that is shared with the nans and my wife so everyone can add and view pics

Thanks Smurph, I didn't know that. I assume if I sort it on a PC it will update on my phone?

To be fair I think you can do that on most modern galleries, iPhone included. Samsung Gallery does the same thing. It is a very nice feature.

I'm coming up to the end of my current contract and for the first time in years I have no idea what to go for next! I've been on Android for my last 4 phones (HTC Desire -> Samsung Galaxy S3 -> HTC One M8 -> Samsung Galaxy S7) and ideally want to stick with it as I'm "bought in" to the eco-system now, but there just doesn't seem to be anything out there that is tempting me right now.

HTC seem to have fallen off the radar massively since the last time I had their flagship offering - are they still even in the high end phone game? Similarly I've not been massively impressed by my S7 - it's fine for the most part but the battery life is pretty terrible and it's too fat and heavy for my liking. Given that the S9 is both bigger and heavier I don't feel particularly inclined to go with that either!

Anyone got any recommendations for new Android phones? The Pixel 2 seems like a decent device, and I've secretly always wanted to go with a "pure" Android phone without all the shite the manufacturers try to put on it, so that is tempting.

It's all about the Pixel 2.
