I've been given my PAC code so need to use that within 28 days. If I unlock say....tomorrow, will that mess up my current network?

I've not ordered a new SIM so don't want to unlock and it then auto end my current network as I obviously need my phone.

Cheers.

If you unlock your phone, your existing sim will still work.....

Giffgaff is below:

£12 Goodybag is still available but is no longer unlimited so you have to go to £15 a month to keep unlimited.

However the goodybags are not 4G. The only 4G goodybag is the £10 trial goodybag. No one knows if when it finishes the trial will they upgrade the existing Goodybags to 4G at no cost or if they will create different, more expensive goodybags that include 4G.

Giffgaff does 12 month contracts? I couldn't find them on its web site.

You've completely misread. I was comparing 3 with Giffgaff.

Giffgaff do not have contracts, it's goodybags are sorta like having a contract.

I was referring to 3 having an identical package on 1 month and 12 months. The 1 month costs more but means you can bail, I was suggesting trying 3 signal by doing the 1 month contract then either cancelling or converting to 12 months based on how good the signal is etc.

The new Giffgaff £12 deal is

500 UK minutes
Unlimited UK texts
3 GB Internet
Free to giffgaff numbers

I had a look at the Three abroad data and it's some pretty random countries so that's lost them a point for me.

Might just go for this. 3GB is enough for me I'm sure.

Having trouble keeping apps closed on my m8, whenever I look at what is running and close a bunch of stuff they will be running again in a few seconds.

Found the battery life to be pretty bad on the m8 and I'm fairly sure it's down to the amount of apps running.

What kind of apps are you talking about?

Yes?

Things like Amazon, kindle, vine, etc. My memory usage is around 80-90%.

Where are you seeing Amazon running from, Apps -> Running? I can't see any reason why that would be running all of the time. Does it have some kind of notification service on?

Yes?

Yeah that's where I see it running. I've also downloaded something called smart booster that is supposed to improve performance but again once I close it everything is running again.

Get rid of app-closing apps and don't manually close stuff that's running. Let the smart people who programmed Android handle memory usage.

Umm, most of the bloatware gooseberry fool that runs as standard on the Galaxy S range is total garbage and does nothing but waste memory and battery. Some of them can be disabled, thankfully, but others are constantly running and can't even be stopped.

Don't let the smart people who programmed android drop whatever gooseberry fool they like onto your phone.

Did the Amazon app come pre-installed? I'm wondering if it is different from the version you download from the store. I just started Amazon up on my phone and it didn't show under running, but when I switched to "Show cached processes" it appeared on the list. When I exited Amazon and checked again it had disappeared from cached processes.

Yes?

Yeah his point is Samsung love doing that. Distros close enough to stock run like butter, and I have no such issues with Sense 6 (even though it's still heavily skinned).

I'm only just getting some games on my LG Nexus 5 phone and I'm having a ton of fun with Hitman GO and Shadowrun Returns. Never would have thought that I'd be able to play a game like Shadowrun on a phone.

Did this work in the end ?

Tried this evening, I could change the USB connection settings from Media Device (MTP) to Camera (PTP), but when I changed it to PTP I could only transfer images. Changed it back to MTP and still couldn't see the Nexus in the 'this PC' section. Odd.
