I have location services turned off across the system. I just don't have a need for them day to day, and if I do when I'm travelling or whatever then I'll turn them on. But otherwise they are just a drain on the battery.

I tend to leave locations services on but in battery saving mode.
I try to keep my list of installed apps on the low side because it's hard to see what apps are draining your battery a lot. It used to be easy to see what apps were running all the time but for some reason Google got rid of that a few versions ago.

I've had a bit of a nightmare and ended up in quite an expensive deal and bought a pretty horrific case :fp:

However, the S9 plus screen is lovely. The only problem is that the text feels tiny. Seriously, is this a resolution thing?

*Edit* it would appear so.

Probably but you can check text size in settings.

Thanks mate. Seriously though am I old and blind or is text too small at UHD on a phone?

Already had my first issue, a load of stuff downloaded on Spotify and after a restart it's all gone.

Spotify is a twat so that doesn't surprise me.

Text will be smaller due to more pixels being on the screen so if the text is say 10px tall it will be less physical space the more pixels there are on the screen, same goes for laptops and gooseberry fool.

I'm on an s8+ and I can't say I have noticed any text evening too small but I'm not old and broken I guess.

Do you use a different streaming service?

I am old and broken but things are definitely smaller, I have a custom clock widget and it's different. It might be to do with the ratio.

I have location services on and set to high all of the time. Unless I go mad with the screen time, always get 2 - 2.5 days between charges (but I do turn the phone off at night).

Or have enough data that you don't need to download, in the past when I have just installed Spotify and downloaded it has done that but if I don't load after a day of installing it is fine it's very odd, it also seemed to make a difference if I installed the app then added an SD card after. Daft ass app it is, I just stream now and don't download to my.phone and it is all good.

The app definitely doesn't like SD cards, the internal storage upgrade on the S9 plus is a huge bonus.

First day with the S9 plus and this screen is just lovely but strawberry float me the official case is heavy and ugly as sin. Also wireless charging is mental, got the new Samsung charger half price and at no point did I imagine it would sound like a 747 taking off when I put it next to my bed.

I have one of the wireless fast chargers and yeah it is has quite a hum to it, I quite like it though its sort of soothing in an odd way.

I've got one for my s7 and I hate it... I mean, it has the charger plugged in, so why not just connect it to the phone and forego the stupid fan noises?

My chrome browser keeps redirecting me to stupid adverts whilst I'm browsing Grcade. I've not really noticed it on other sites, but it's pretty constant on here. I've run a scan and it's found nothing, and I've also checked my app manager and not found anything that looks suspicious. Any ideas? It's incredibly annoying.

Use the GRcade app and never look back.

I now can't decide what phone I fancy, I keep going back and forth between getting a cheaper Android, the P20 Pro or the S9 plus. Those headphones are mighty tempting for the Huewei but I can see it being a first come, first served deal and the website will get bombarded. There are some incredible deals on the S9 at the moment so that seems the all round most sensible option.

When did I become so bad at making a decision :fp:

I originally tried getting the S9+ from Virgin mobile and was knocked back with a credit check even though I have a package with TV, Broadband and Phone from them and have done for years. Gave Three a call who I was with anyway and no problems, had it for release date.

Got the official flip case for mine and can see the AOD through the front, answer calls and control music.

Switched to the Facebook lite app and banned it from running in the background and what do you know! My battery problems are completely gone. By far the biggest hog I have ever seen.

The flip case is nice but I had it for the S7 edge and the screen cracked twice from pretty minor falls. Got the corrugated steel monstrosity on the S9 plus.

Whilst I've barely used Facebook in years, I've always stuck to the mobile browser because the app kills battery and I imagine has more permissions to access data than the browser.

It's never been a battery killer for me.
I'm not sure how it can be as Android keeps a check on stuff and sleeps apps that are in the background unless for some reason your phone manufacturer has borked that.

As for permissions, I figure if I wasn't cool with the access they want I should just not have Facebook.
