Still want to know what you could do on your wind up phone that you can't do on an Android phone out of the box.

- Sync text messages.

- Set a different background on each home screen.

- Get confirmation when text messages are received by other people (our networks here are crap so sometimes if you send a text and the person is out of service they might not get it, and even when they are back in the network sometimes messages still don't show up)

- Get confirmation when mms messages have been received, and when they have been read.

That's off the top of my head.

Edit: I forgot the one I use most often, tethering through a usb.

(internet) USB tethering you most certainly can do out of the box. You should also be able to get delivery reports for SMS and MMS default too.

:o

That's great, I'll have to look that up how to do that, I was just playing around with the phone and didn't see any settings for those things.

Don't know how I missed that, and I just found the sms report as well, it was in the app itself rather than on the system settings page. There doesn't seem to be an option to see when mms was read though but I rarely use those so I guess it's no big loss.

Who still uses MMS? Just use Whatsapp or Facebook messenger.

fun fact, if you send an SMS and the recipient doesn't get the message (poor coverage) it will stay with the network for 6hrs or until the recipient reconnects to the network.

I dunno, I've had messages not be received by others and I've not received messages in the past even though I was disconnected for shorter time periods.

At any rate, thanks for helping me sort out those things guys, I guess complaining really can solve problems :toot:

Is there a way to set a sleeping screen on android 's? My Nokia had a setting that kept the screen on, so you could see alerts, in a low power mode all the time unless the proximity sensor told it the phone was in my pocket or something.

It looked like this...

Some companies have added some bit to their roms but it isn't a native feature.

Android works by making some features native but mostly keeping it simple that way OEMs can make features they want and make it unique.

But is there an app that does something like this that someone can recommend?

I think the best you will get is a notification light. You can normally set the colour to each app that has sent the notification.

Yes?

Not really, that sort of thing would need a fair bit of access to the system and an app wouldn't be able to get that level of access without being adding in by an OEM or by requiring Root.

Yeah, it's an excellent phone, I've been very happy with mine since I got it.

It is without doubt the best phone I have ever had.
