Personally it doesn't look worth the money. It isn't mega mega spec compared to other devices that are cheaper, it is Google making it expensive because it's by Google so they can.

Really? The only cheaper phone that comes close is the OnePlus 3 and I think if you compare the specs overall the Pixel is obviously quite a bit better.

Best part of £500 better though?

Price difference depends on if you want the 5.5" version.

If you do want the 5.5" version you get a better screen and twice as much storage on the Pixel, both versions should be faster, have a better camera and will have better support for new Android features.

I don't really think they are in competition with each other, you either want the best phone you can get for around £300 or make the decision that you'll spend as much as it takes to get the best phone.

Like I said its not for me, but if I was in the market to spend that much on a phone I'd definitely be interested.

THats what I mean, it isn't better at all in any way, but people go "cos it but it is by google init" also fan boys. It is Google trying to "be Apple" the difference is the iPhone actually works out less expensive over time because of resale, Android halves in value just by it being used.

It is hard to compare as they run different OS's which require different things, the Processor speeds etc. of iPhones are lower etc. but it doesn't matter because Apple do their own processors that are designed for the the OS and the OS is tuned and mastered for the hardware so you can do more with less.

iPhones are no doubt a premium device so on par with the top top top Android devices. They are expensive, but you will get more return on sale value after 2 years of use.

The Pixel is decent spec but it isn't as far as ahead of everything as the price suggests.

In a nutshell, what is better about the Pixel than the OnePlus 3? I had a quick look on GSMarena and the Pixel 5 inch has a slightly better CPU, same GPU, not dual sim, lower res camera and smaller capacity battery. What am I missing that justifies the higher price?

Yes?

The justification is because it is by Google thus better purely because of that. It is google cashing in fanboys and people that will pay more because they see a higher price tag as just meaning it is better.

This is spot on.

The Nexus up until now, was released every year by other firms now they have branded it and made it themsevles asking a premuim price.

HSH said the Pixel is "obviously quite a bit better" and I'm questioning whether it is better at all, so clearly not "obvious".

The Pixel camera will be the best smartphone camera this year just like the Nexus 6P was last year. More megapixels doesn't translate to a better photo.

Pixel has a higher Pixel density too.

The One Plus 3 is a damn good value phone and the Pixel is massively over priced for SIM free, but it'll easily be the top Android phone if price is no issue.

This guy knows whats up.

Google are going to make the Pixel appear as a premium product because they'll start tailoring new versions of Android to it, and releasing the new firmware to the Pixel first. If you like Apple products because of their "consistent" (which we all know means restricted) ecosystem then Google now have the Pixel as an android equivalent.

So Samsung have collected my Note7 but the courier couldn't give me a receipt or anything so i have no idea what is happening, to be honest I only got an email informing me that they would pick it up a couple of days ago - still don't know if i am getting a full refund or what...

guess I will just wait for some cash monies to appear in my bank.

I wonder if it is worth holding onto a Note7, might become valuable in the future (as long as you don't turn it on and it can't blow up whilst turned off).

Yes?

I had the same thoughts but then I also considered the fact that a need a new device and don't quite have the disposable cash to get a replacement. :(

If you did keep it I would have suggested getting the battery removed because it would have been dangerous to be removed.

Since you bought it out right you will get a full refund. Did they ask for bank details or anything like that? They may just credit you by the details you gave them when you bought it.
