Swiping up does nothing, and I can't see a button with six dots on it.

Post a screen shot (power button and volume down)

By the way, that button combination didn't take a screenshot, I had to find a 'screenshot' option in the drop down menu. I'm beginning to think that the MiUI is making things more complicated.

Did you remove it?

I'm pretty sure it is meant to be the middle button on the home bar even on miui.

Might be a widget for it under the widget menu.

Scratch that it looks like miui has no drawer so you have to add stuff to the screen you want there.

Heuawi do a similar thing by adding them to the other screen automatially.

If you swipe across stuff may be there. If not I'm not sure search YouTube maybe as it seems the miui design is a bit daft.

Thanks Errkal, I thought that might be the case. It's a bit irritating as I didn't really want pages and pages full of apps, I wanted to keep my phone fairly clutter free. Oh well.

Are you using the Miui8 launcher or are you using something different? The Miui8 is quite different from everything else so you may need to Google the answer. You might be best changing the launcher to something like Nova.

Yes?

You should be able to download and change the launcher to Nova. I had already planned this in the event of buying a Xiaomi. You'll then find things a lot easier.

My missus is trying to upgrade on a budget..

She's looking for about £25-30 a month.
Got to have a good camera and micro SD slot.

I've narrowed it down for her to the Samsung A5, Huawei P9 lite or p10 lite.

Anything else we can consider?

I did recommend my OnePlus 3t, but it doesn't have the micro SD slot.

Is a launcher something that changes the UI entirely? Does it affect performance at all? Anything else to be cautious about? Sorry, I've not used Android in quite some time and already I'm finding it to be quite unwieldy. It's a big difference coming from the elegant simplicity of Windows.

Yes, it can change the UI. Hopefully somewhere within your settings you'll find where you set the launcher. I don't think it will impact performance (other than some launchers being better than others) and nothing to worry about, you can simply switch launchers if you don't like one. Just out of interest, do you have the play store and Google services in your phone?

Yes?

Check the Honor 9. That seems like a good phone and has a dual SIM slot with one usable for micro SD if you prefer.

Thanks very much, I 'll give it a go. Yeah all the Google stuff was already installed for me. Service from Geekbuying was excellent by the way, just in case you ever decide to go down the importing route.

I did recommend my OnePlus 3t, but it doesn't have the micro SD slot.

Why is the lack of this a deal breaker? It has a pretty decent amount of storage in it already so it should suffice for most users.

Well, she's weird...

She'll take about 300 photos and hour, but will refuse to use Google drive's Automatic backup to upload them incase the paedos get hold of them.

I've got all my photos uploaded to drive and it's fine. (So far  )

Still using the browser to open GRcade though. :fp:
