All the talk about Kildare walking it against Down is really premature in my view. If anything Kildare have benefitted from the fact that no one expected much of them after the provincial defeat and so they ended up being highly underestimated by most. That won't happen against Down who I feel, despite having longer odds than Kildare, have the better team man for man. Obviously Kildare's intensity and accuracy has been really impressive in the run in, but they'll be up against a much better footballing side in my view.

Verdict: too close to call.

And thank fudge Dublin are gone. All the talk about us Ulster teams traditionally playing a rough brand of football (mostly bollocks made up by disgruntled ex-Kerry footballers!) is nothing compared to the negativity of that Dublin side today. Cork were almost as bad with an astonishing inability to shoot properly. Quality wise it was the worst all Ireland semi-final for a long time. I'm glad Cork made it though as they have been so close of late only to throw it all away. I still hope that Down go on to beat them in the final again this year! After the small matter of the Kildare game obviously.

Oh I realise that, i'm just saying that I hope the momentum hasn't died down before the Down game or we could get a bit of a lesson. Fingers crossed for next weekend anyway. Even if we lose though, the buzz around the county since the early backdoor rounds has gotten me back into GAA properly for the first time in around 6 years.

I haven't seen many media outlets saying kildare will walk it so I'm not sure where you are getting that impression from.


I did laugh at the way Des Cahill started off the analysis of the match by implying the Cork players were diving though.

Yeah, the way things were going for Kildare I'd have wanted to play the week after the quarter final if they were my county! For what it is worth I've loved watching Kildare this year as they have ploughed their phenomenal energy and fitness into a really positive approach rather than being ultra-defensive a la the Dubs. Mind you we (Antrim) should have beat yous down there when it was 15-15. We really took our eyes off the ball and thought we were going to walk it when you lot came up to Belfast and gave us a proper good whalloping!

Cheering on Down is the closest we'll get to an All-Ireland this year anyway!


Edit@Bear: Well, every Irish man in south Birmingham was opining today that Kildare will walk it. Also Paddy Power has Kildare at 4/5 and Down at 11/8 so most punters clearly fancy Kildare. I mean odds on against this Down side is mental. The latter at 11/8 is great value I reckon.

I'd like to say Cork where the better team but they clearly wheren't, they managed to put 4 scores together in 5mins, if it happened with 10mins to go Dublin would have responded. Ah well.

What an absolute disgrace of a decision that was. Robbed at the end, although the ref was a disgrace to both sides for most of the match.

Meanwhile, Fermanagh loses to the whipping boys in London. Ho hum.

Tipp were awesome but I felt kinda bad for Mullane after the match today. He is a headcase but he's a great player that got bugger all decent service today. Hopefully this will be the end of the cuntbutler Davy Fitz on telly though.

The last Galway point against Cork yesterday was pure class on Cannings part.
