I'm thinking about getting an electric guitar (I've had many in the past, but for a good while now all I've had is my 6-string acoustic), but I'm kinda caught between wanting an electric six and hankering for a good-quality 12-string acoustic. It's important to state that while I've been a guitarist since the age of 13 (I'm 48 now), I've never been a lead guitarist; just a very competent rhythm guitarist. I'm attracted to an electric because I have a very good MIDI DAW set-up (I also have keyboards, etc and virtual synths by the bucket load) and I'd like to be able to integrate my guitar playing with my sequencer, etc via plug-ins.
Another, tantalising, possibility is an electric 12-string, but they are rare and expensive - although the sound they make Fact:
Years ago, maybe twenty-five years ago, I used to have twin-neck electric, which was a 12-string up top, and a 6-string below. Man, that thing was heavy!
