Only play together every couple of months these days. Sad really, my drummer didn't even show up.

Interesting session though. A lot of jazzy stuff. It's pretty much a jazz band now.

I keep getting electric shocks from the strings of my guitar - at first I thought it might be a grounding issue with my pedalboard, but having swapped the power supplies and playing without it it looks like it is my amp. I've noticed a huge amount of static around the back of the amp as well (collecting huge amounts of dust, makes the hairs on my arm stand up if I reach around them).

Has anyone encountered a problem like this before? Is it a grounding issue with the amp?

Me and my pal attempted to do a paint job on our guitars. We went for the "swirling" effect. It kind of worked.

Figure this is the best place to post... I started learning guitar a few months ago basically. Got this second hand accoustic one for £50 at a charity shop (well my mum did), it's a bit gooseberry fool tbh but whatever. I'm looking to get a proper one, budget around £300 or so. Would like a classical guitar over accoustic... what do any of youse suggest? (:

The £50 one is an Aria Ak-20, so it's pretty balls but was just an introductionary guitar (since my last one broke and my strings came off my electric one).

Joan Cashimira are a great Spanish made family fun classical guitar mass workshop, got one to replace my 3 quarter size for around 250 quid mark and still sounds great after 12 years. I've kept it not only for sentimental reasons despite playing a hand made instrument now worth about 1.8k.

Takamine are also really good. Almost too good. That's all subjective but technically one I tried out for about 700 was very clear sounding with good resonance across the range and no buzzing etc. of course.

I didn't buy it though because by too good I meant a bit boring. My current guitar is a cypress, and spruce and ebony build with a custom bracing under the top. Its very bright but for some reason has huge bass response too, but that's down to the craftsmanship and design that's unique.

My point is without banging on about that instrument is play the guitar before you buy it as even if it sounds good on paper or is a technically excellent instrument it might not be for you.

Even cheap guitars can sound subjectively better than expensive ones, just look at something like Seasick Steve, some of his instruments are crap but technique and style make them sound perfect for the music.

The most important thing is to find one with a neck that you like, the rest will fall into place.

Yeah definatley, I know nothing about the technical side of guitars.. literally only how to play chords and read tabs pretty much. It's just we don't have that many musical shops around here so theres bound to be more choice and value online... guess I have to be social and actually go into town and find out! :/

Got my first electric guitar today!

It's a Squier Jaguar and it's connected up to a Vox VT20+.

Really happy with it and I'm so glad to be playing something other than my acoustic, which wasn't great to play. I've already noticed an ease in playing barre chords.

That's probably because the neck is thinner and the strings are less taut.

You might find it difficult to play acoustic if you get used to that. Hence training on acoustic is a good idea.
