Been listening to loads of Jimi Hendrix since I got Strat. What a cool mummy strawberry floater. Why didn't I listen to this before?

What's the best way to clean the fretboard for an acoustic guitar?

I need to get some strings tomorrow as one of them snapped and thought I might as well give it a clean while doing so. Lemon oil is one of the products available but there seems to be some conflicting information about it being good or bad.

The band might be playing a gig with Roadrunner Records. Trying not to get too excited.

My band is getting interviewed and doing some acoustic songs on the radio next week. It's a regional station, Spark 107fm, next Sunday at 4pm.

Lemon oil is good stuff, but our guitar tech at Andertons uses linseed oil as it seems to hydrate the fretboard a lot better, and lasts a lot longer than lemon oil.

Also, if your fretboard is very dirty (bad boy) use baby wipes (or equivalent) to get the majority of the gooseberry fool off.
Then oil that bitch up. :)

Thanks, Lewis. I do keep my hands clean so it's not that bad.

Just wash it using whatever, for me it's just spit and polish and some mild detergent like soap. Use as little moisture as possible, the only potential problem is water logging the grain and letting strong detergents seep in and damage the wood over time. Just make sure you don't dry out the fretboard too much and then you can use anything from lemon oil to linseed to, hell, I've used olive oil with nothing else to hand, to get the wood back to a nice moist rich colour.

I oil my rosewood electric fingerboards but conveniently my classical/flamenco is an ebony finger board which doesn't wear or need oiling.

Definitely gonna get a new guitar at some point this year, but I'm not too sure what I should be buying. Been quite out of the loop for a while now. I've always liked the Stratocaster shape, and I'd be heavily into metal.

I also heard this lovely Space Station effect on an expression pedal, which sounded sweet. WANT.

I'm thinking about getting an electric guitar (I've had many in the past, but for a good while now all I've had is my 6-string acoustic), but I'm kinda caught between wanting an electric six and hankering for a good-quality 12-string acoustic. It's important to state that while I've been a guitarist since the age of 13 (I'm 48 now), I've never been a lead guitarist; just a very competent rhythm guitarist. I'm attracted to an electric because I have a very good MIDI DAW set-up (I also have keyboards, etc and virtual synths by the bucket load) and I'd like to be able to integrate my guitar playing with my sequencer, etc via plug-ins.

Another, tantalising, possibility is an electric 12-string, but they are rare and expensive - although the sound they make

Fact: Years ago, maybe twenty-five years ago, I used to have twin-neck electric, which was a 12-string up top, and a 6-string below. Man, that thing was heavy!

My band, The Karma Party, have just released its first proper music video for our song "This Is Britain". A look into a typical twat's night out in Blackpool -

Mix of Scroobius Pip and The Music - Not bad.

Although, it was amazingly done, I found the video the video uncomfortable with it being such a direct rip of Smack my Bitch Up.

Yeah, we went into the shoot with a much larger over-arching narrative in mind. It was supposed to have parts where he was horrible to people but branch off to where he finds his friend attempting a rape and stops him, becoming more of a hero character by the end of it. There was another draft idea even before that which I'm pretty sure was more in-depth with the "villain becomes hero" idea, but I can't remember all of it.

Unfortunately, due to the small number of people we managed to round up as extras and a few other hitches, it turned out that we just weren't able to do what we had in mind on the timescale we had shooting so ended up opting for a much more cut-down version. The only "maybe he's not such a bad guy" part that's left from the old ideas is the ending with his kid.

I'm seriously considering putting an order in for a Fender Custom shop master built strat.

I'd pick John Cruz as my builder, with a '62 strat in surf green and a heavy relic.
It'd cost me roughly £3500-£3900 and a waiting time for it to be finished of about 3 years.

But it would be SO worth it. I could save up for it in the time it took to build and it could become an investment or an heirloom :)

I dunno how I would tell Bex

Go for it, if you played piano that wouldn't be even that much to splash out on a proper acoustic one. It's going to last you the rest of your life so it's definitely worth it.

If you have no doubts at all that is the guitar you want and no other, and you can afford it and play it, the are more extravagant things.

Otherwise no. Get 1 or 2 guitars and find what you want.

The other argument is, if you're going to get a luthier to build it why not get some mods in? You can have a guitar completely designed for you and made faster if you look at local luthiers.

Have a look at nick Benjamin.

Edit: looks like he doesn't do electric anymore. Point still stands.

In getting alot of buzz coming from the neck of one of my strats. Pretty sure it's the truss rod that's loose/strawberry floated. :( No idea if that's even repairable, which sucks because it's a really nice neck. Anyone had any experience with this?
