For a cynical (& hopefully comedic) look at the 'London' 2012 Olympics...

Huffington Post wrote:Dozens of travellers were left suspended 300ft above the River Thames today when a new cable car system linking two Olympic venues broke down.

More than 30 cars, carrying around 60 people, came to a halt due to a technical problem with the Emirates Air Line at 11.45am.

The £45 million system, opened last month, links the O2 Arena in Greenwich - where the Olympic basketball and gymnastics are taking place - with the ExCel exhibition centre in London Docklands, which is hosting boxing and a number of other events.

Eventually, the cars moved again and passengers were able to reach the system's terminals after a hold-up of around 30 minutes.

Danny Price, head of Emirates Air Line, said: "The Emirates Air Line is now back up and running after experiencing a technical fault at 11.45am.

"All passengers were safely back in the terminal by 12.18pm and water and first aid were made available to them. We would like to apologise to anyone affected."

Dubai-based airline Emirates is sponsoring the cable car for 10 years in a £35 million deal.

North Korea vs. Colombia.

North Korea's women's team walked off the pitch prior to their Olympic soccer clash with Colombia after the flag of neighboring country South Korea was mistakenly shown on Hampden Park's big screen.

The team left the pitch in Glasgow shortly before the scheduled kick off at 7.45pm local time after a South Korean flag appeared next to profiles of their players.

They eventually returned to start the match over an hour later, as London Games organizers were forced to issue a hasty apology.

I imagine being suspended 300ft above water for an unknown amount of time would make some people quite anxious. :|

My dad went on the cable cars the other day with his gf, for her benefit, and sat down on the floor the whole journey. He has issues with height and claustrophobia, thank strawberry float it didn't break down then.

It's a mistake, but for any right thinking person hardly a catastrophe. Only a brain washed puppet of a totalitarian state would react by sulking in the changing rooms for an hour. Oh wait...

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Freesat has all 24 HD channels and the Red Button Mheg Channel. I did a channel scan with my box last night so I know this to be true.

Any other country would laugh at a flag fuck-up, not sulk in the changing rooms.
