Busted! smurphy has a backlog bigger than one and throws his money down the toilet.

:o . That's incredible; I was last at that number in about 1984. Fair play, Deaths, I like your approach.

In 1984 I had a BBC Micro with cassettes full of "backups" I looked after for my friends.

Not at all, C64 was the best of the 8 bit computers for games. Dragon 32 was the best of the chasing pack that included Oric Atmos, Elan Enterprise and Jupiter Ace (i.e. computers that "have no gaems"). Imagine releasing a computer today that had a proprietary OS and no software. I miss the 80s.

I remember that my local Tandy store used to focus more on Dragons and Amstrads rather than C64s and Spectrums. And I recall the arrival of the MSX systems (the "PC" of their day!) but they never took off here in the UK.

ive made it my sad-act NY2018 gaming resolution to spend more time on my backlog rather than on doom2
of course if im not enjoying the game i wont force myself to play it, but just being more conscious of what i spend my gaming time on.
currently playing Dark Souls 2 on the 360 - launch copy, no patches or revisions, no Live either :dread:

Every time I get close to completing my backlog I go and buy a ton of new games. I’m sure one day I’ll reach a point where I don’t get anytime to play them and will be forced to not purchase any. Until then it’s clear down my ever growing backlog

PLAY | Final Fantasy VII Rebirth [92h]
WATCH | Ted Lasso S2, HiJack S1, The Apprentice S18
RACE | Westonbirt Half (March), Chew Valley 10k (June), GNR (Sept), Cardiff Half (Oct)

Took a bag full of games into CEX yesterday, including all my Call of Duty titles - which was pretty much all of them except for the first CoD and Infinite War. Got £82 cash in total which I put into my savings account. Still have a huge back catalogue, but it's nice to put a dent in it through getting shot of games I know I'm not going to return to. Resisted the temptation to buy HZD as I only briefly played it before (I previously sold it knowing it would be an age before I sat down with it properly and could get a higher trade value at the time). I do want to play through HDZ, but I gotta stick to my guns. Only three new games this year and with the possibility of Days Gone and RDR 2 coming out in 2018 I have to choose carefully.

Nine days into 2018 and I've not bought a videogame yet :datass: .

The fact that I felt both pleased about that and that it was post-worthy demonstrates the hill I have to climb :fp: .

I can see.ehy you're so scared of loot boxes, Jawa ;)

I've got the biggest backlog I've had for a while with about 5 games as I upgraded my consoles and got some bundles and I'm not fussed about finishing games like Forza 7.

This year I'd like to curate what I play to get some different experiances, listening to and reading 2017 GOTY stuff there has been lots of mentions of Nier, Nioh, Yakuza 0, Night in the Woods, Pyre, Cuphead, New Machine, etc that I have completely overlooked.

Glad I'm not the only one like this, 15 days in and still not a game bought, feeling quite proud of myself! In an ideal world I could get through 2018 without buying a game but I know that's not happening. Main aim is to not buy anything unless I know I'll play it right away!

Getting to a one game backlog would be an absolute dream but there's no way I'm ever getting to that point, my backlog of physical games isn't that bad (Although still substantial) but I shot myself in the foot when I got back into PC Gaming back in 2012 and immediately bought a massive Steam library in the Christmas sale, it's frankly out of control now and I don't even know what some of the games are :fp: A lot are relatively small Indie games and if I could beat a lot of those I'd definitely be able to bring the list down so that's on the agenda this year, fortunately I have a dedicated space in my house for gaming now so hopefully I'll be able to get a lot more time to play this year!

Dat "fifteen days clean" feeling :datass: .

I think I may make it to the end of January but February is gonna be trouble. Shadow of the Colossus, Bayonetta Double Pack and Dynasty Warriors 9. I'm never going to be able to resist those three :shifty: .

Looking at my B/P/A/C list i've fallen off the wagon already :dread:, however i have consciously stopped myself from buying more and the ps2 games were extremely cheap. Rather than the one game backlog i'm going to focus on backlog reduction or negation: either playing things through or relegating them to the steam hidden folder once and for all.

I too was looking forward to DW9, however i have barely played 8. Monster Hunter looks fun but i have god eater 1 and 2 lined up already, that kind of thing.

It's a nice feeling 8-) Mostly been tempted by Civ 6 in the Humble Bundle Monthly but I'm holding firm as buying that would mean an extra 5 or 6 games when the bundle is released which I really don't need!

I already own Shadow of the Colossus twice (PS2 and PS3) and I own Bayonetta 1 on Xbox 360 and Bayonetta 2 on Wii U, shamefully I've not completed any of them so if I buy any of them again next month I need to have a serious word with myself

Something which I am hoping will help me clear my backlog is the fact that my road is finally being upgraded to fibre broadband!

Until getting my Switch last year I've been almost exclusively gaming on PC for the last 8 or 9 years (I gave up on the 360 sometime around 2010) and pretty much everything I bought was through Steam or GOG. Downloading games over a 2-3Mb connection was never a recipe for success with most decent sized games taking at least 12 hours to download, as a result I would only ever persevere for the games I was really desperate to play and leaving a whole load of stuff on my account which I just haven't had the time to download.

I'm hoping that now I can turn on my PC of an evening and actually download and play a new game in the same sitting that I might actually stand a chance of whittling down my backlog!
