The one sport you cannot watch

Only one on that list I can't watch is Football.

All except F1 and Darts, although even those are fleeting these days.

As for football my Wife is the footy fan in our house, (Coventry City since she was 9, two caps for under 18's England ladies and team captain for Cheltenham Belles FC). I don't really care for the sport, although I have tried to get into it. Just doesn't click with me.

My father in law, after three daughters with only the youngest showing any interest in the sport, was a tad disappointed when he discovered I wasn't a footy fan. :lol:

I voted football. Unlike other sports on the list that send me to sleep (F1, darts, and cricket), rather than being just neutral or disinterested, football sometimes makes me angry. For some players it's the grossly inflated egos and wages, the often unsavory headlines about cheating on girlfriends and criminal accusations, and last time I caught a glimpse of some football on while in a bar, there was the familiar childish behavior of two players bumping into each other and consequently rolling around the floor grabbing their ankles or shins in pain. The behavior of some football fans in this country is completely abhorrent (be it the drunk, disorderly type or those who declare war on other people for supporting the "wrong" team).

I hate the fact that for many broadcasters and newspapers, the "sport" section simply means football. Football, football, football.

I appreciate this is absolutely not the way every football player behaves, and not the way every fan does. But nearly every aspect of football that I'm on the receiving end of is completely repulsive (baring in mind I make an effort to avoid it). My last close encounter with footy fans was a late night at a train station, when two guys decided it would be hilarious to grab some of my belongings and run off with them. Luckily my boyfriend got my stuff back, and luckily for others I've noticed police tend to populate stations pretty thoroughly when there's a big match.

Probably test cricket. The one day games are ok and I quite enjoy the world cup when it's on but I can't sit through a test match for more than an hour without wanting to fall asleep. I find the fuss that the English press make over the ashes completely and utterly baffling too.

Edit - baseball is gooseberry fool too.

I'll generally watch most, apart from horse racing. Load of rubbish.

And tennis has never appealed. I just find it boring. I follow loads of different sports, but tennis has never grabbed me. Not saying it's gooseberry fool, before you all jump down my throat and throw a hissyfit, I just can't get into it.

I used to like Cricket but it's meaningless now with several different varieties and the same teams playing each other for months on end. Plus its ALWAYS on?

That said I would watch the ashes so it's not like I can't watch it.

Golf. Must be the dullest sport to watch.

Fun to play though.

People knocking F1 should watch it this season. It's been incredible.

Debates like this are pointless. People tend not to like sports they don't understand. Simply watching F1 without any knowledge of the sport and support for a driver/team is bound to be a bit dull. I don't like rugby but then I don't really know the rules and don't care for any team.

Football pundits and fans are generally pretty dense and spout a lot of crap. It's one of the things I enjoy about F1 - all the people involved are extremely intelligent and they have to be! The fans as well tend to be less fickle and petty.

You just can't have any meaningful discussion for the length and frequency required to be a football commentator, though, so it all just ends up being ridiculous. I find it hilarious to listen to but all my friends who watch football all the time just seem to think it's normal.

I dunno, I think you need to have a basic interest in cars and motoring to enjoy F1 beyond a passing interest. Races take too long with nothing much happening during it.

Yeah, definitely. That goes along with what I said in my first post.

Funnily enough, golf is a weird one. I like playing it. I had lessons as a kid but hardly ever play these days, though I'd love to play again. But to watch it on TV? strawberry float that gooseberry fool. So strawberry floating boring. But then I don't know much about the intricacies of the sport, so, again, it's probably unfair of me to say that.
