That's really bad A.I

I've played through the game a couple times and never experienced anything like that, though I've never played it on Grounded so maybe it's something to do with what difficulty it's set to?

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

I'm at the section now where you have to fend off wave after wave of clickers and runners (and finally a bloater) as Ellie alongside Nolan North's character. I've reached the point where I've lost any and all motivation to continue playing. There is zero fun to be had in these forced combat sections, just constant restarting and doing it all again. They suck all the enjoyment out of the game. It wouldn't be so bad if the game gave you enough ammo but most of the time I'm running around shiving and hoping that the ally AI helps me out but he almost never does because he's braindead, just like the rest of the AI in this game. Apart from his aim being shocking, It's like he momentarily forgets there's a clicker right there next to him and just walks towards the wall casually. This is unacceptably bad AI in a AAA release.

:dread: And that's only 1 example of the sheer stupidity of the AI.

Naughty Dog never know when to quit with these strawberry floating enemy waves, both in this and the Uncharted series. You'd think that after 4 strawberry floating attempts at it they would learn but clearly not. And in this game especially, there's absolutely no need for them, it doesn't need padding out, it's already probably too long of a game as it is

At the very last section of the game now in the hospital, THANK strawberry float. I just discovered there are no checkpoints whatsoever in this entire level. There's at least 4 different waves of bad guys spread out over 3 areas (and two mini-cutscenes in between!) and if you die you have to watch it all again. Such a cheap piece of gooseberry fool way to make it more difficult. Thankfully the whole thing can be done in stealth thanks to the enemies being so dumb, but still.

Somebody defend this gooseberry fool.

Please.

I can't remember AI this bad in a long time.

Pretty good. Can't complain.

I decided to jump straight into NG+ to clean up the collectables that I missed. 99% of them are behind shiv doors that I couldn't open the first time through.

It's not anywhere near as hard or bad as you're making it out to be chalky. There are undoubtedly frustrating parts of the game: Sniper in the village, sneaking out of financial plaza etc. That are made worse by the Grounded mode and can be a real pain in the arse. However the AI is decent throughout if never great and other challenge parts can be done far easier with a bit of thought, or just gitting guud.

Have you not seen the vids I've posted 4 posts up? Or throughout the last couple of pages? In what way is that AI decent? In the first vid above the guy saw me, shot at me 2 times, and then instantly forgot that I was there and started looking for me in the opposite direction. Braindead doesn't cover it. The second one is even worse as all 5 of them forgot where I was and just continued on with their patrols.

"Decent". :fp:

I only had trouble with two parts of the game, the financial plaza with the second wave of on-alert banana splits appearing out of thin air (such cheap game design) and the bit with Ellie from yesterday. Most of the game is actually piss easy due to the enemies being so goddamn dumb and exploitable and not being able to hear their comrades being loudly strangled 6 feet away.

I'm about 6 hours into my Plus run, now. Just continued straight into it yesterday evening and kept playing until late. Just arrived to the part where you meet Michael and Walt from Lost. No difficulty problems so far this run.

Finished my second playthrough and got everything I had left to collect behind the shiv doors.

Then I wondered why I hadn't unlocked all the trophies for artifacts and conversations etc. Apparently the game is glitchy as strawberry float and sometimes doesn't record that you've collected them. :| I have 8 left to find/collect even though I followed a collectable guide to a tee.

strawberry float. Sake. I ain't playing it a third time. No way. I would have to collect everything again because I don't know what I missed. :fp: The trophies can go strawberry float themselves, now.

Might have a run through Left Behind, though.

Got my arse in gear and set up a U.S. Account so I could buy this for £6.99 from CD Keys (offer still on, by the way).
Think I'll just experience it on Normal and enjoy the ride though after all this Trophy agitation chat.
Is online like Uncharted's?

I caved. Up to Bill's Town on my 3rd playthrough in less than 2 weeks. :fp: I'm playing on Grounded+ and thankfully all I have left to do now is listen to all the conversations (since they didn't register before) and Ellie's jokes, then Platinum here I come!

After I complete the multiplayer journeys of course. :fp:

Anyone had a problem with the game being glitchy as strawberry float? Right now I can't get Ellie's joke to trigger upstairs in the bookstore. Tried it 3 times now and nothing. The worst part is the way you have to clear the entire area of 20 enemies before you even get a chance for it to appear. :fp: Really pissing me off now. Just won't work for no reason as far as I can tell.

Yesterday the conversation at the bathtub in the hotel with the two bodies inside wouldn't trigger. That took 3 attempts as well.

Damn game
