FINALLY got all the single player trophies. Now I have to play through Left Behind on Survivor and finish the two multiplayer journeys. :dread:

I encountered 2 hilarious bugs on my final + playthrough to upgrade all weapons

 :fp:

Can't believe I've played through this 3 times in a week and a half. :slol:

Finally started playing this a few days ago. Started with left behind as I've only played TLou once before on ps3 and wanted to start with the new stuff.

60FPS makes such a difference. Great little dlc so far.

I should probably try this again after it supposedly being the best game of all time

I also felt compelled to play (and complete) it because of the hype.

I really didn't like anything about the game. I found the controls clunky, the characters uninspiring, and the whole thing (apart from the graphics) a little bit basic. I just didn't feel like I was "playing" anything. In contract, I really loved the Uncharted games which have much more personality.

This game, more than any other, showed me that video games really are a personal taste, and I can only use reviews as a very basic guideline (same thing can be said about DriveClub, which reviewed poorly but ended up being one of my favourite games of all time)!

I pretty much agree with all of that. Not that I care about trophies so much, but it's usually a good barometer of what's left to do and I haven't got a single one on Last of Us yet. It was getting to the point I was hoping it was the end of the game now, just so I could say I've played through it :fp:

Did you play the same game as me? LOU has a gooseberry fool load more mechanics than uncharted. In Uncharted all you do is shoot guys. in LOU you do that but then there's also the upgrade system, crafting etc and you can choose how you tackle most situations, you can go in guns blazing (like uncharted) or play it like metal gear. As much as I love the characters in Uncharted, going back and playing them now, the combat really doesn't hold up well.

You can't really play it like Metal Gear, though. It's like Deus Ex where they thought it might be good if you could and then decided "man, you know what this apocalyptic survival game needs? A series of base-defend sections" :|

Deus Ex? Base defend? Are you thinking of something completely different?

Also lol, just lol at 'uninspiring characters'.

The Winter section where you get a couple of sections that can only be described as "horde mode" parts. Stand in point A, defend from wave after wave of enemies. Would be interested to know how you'd stealth your way through that ;)

You mean in the dlc? Because the only winter part I remember in the main game is stealthing through am entire village, first as Ellie, then as Joel.

I think Frank means the bit where you meet David for the first time.

No (@ Fade), it's like slap bang in the middle of the game. The Ellie bit where you get lynched in a shed with that other moron and then once you've survived for long enough they're like "nah let's ditch the shed and run" as though they couldn't have done that to begin with and then later you get stuck in some little room and exactly the same thing happens. You probably can't remember it because it's dull as anything and shows how disappointing the combat is in that kind of situation. There's no tacticalness to anything, it's just pow-pow-pow-stab

Yeah it's probably that bit SOK mentioned I don't know names, just that everyone's basically a jackass :P

As apposed to Uncharted where literally every encounter is exactly that? Go into arena, defeat enemies, move on to next arena.

I don't know how you can criticise a 20 hour game for two 10 minute sections which differ from the norm. That's like me criticising Uncharted for the crappy turret and Jet Ski sections.

I don't recall the little room. I'm sure it's in there somewhere, though. But in those fewer than a handful of sections the combat is disappointing, you think. I find that acceptable.

I've never played Uncharted. Never even been remotely interested in it. I only gave this a go because I didn't have anything else on my PS4 :slol: I mean, it's not terrible, but it's hardly without it's faults

It's just disappointing that the game of forever that was so good the remake that came out the following year was *also* game of the year still had to fall back on such dull mechanics.

Also, I think even MGS forces certain kinds of play styles on players for small chunks of the game. The vast majority of games do that (rightly or wrongly) for a change of pace, or to add a bit of variety to proceedings.
