Just started the Fall section (just got to the University):

I don't get why Joel is always so eager to get rid of Ellie. The first opportunity he gets, he's like "hey bro leave your wife and your safehouse and your people and take this stupid kid to the fireflies for me so I can go and do nothing by myself". He has literally nothing to live for - Sarah's dead, the stupid woman from the start is dead, and he's busy trying to write his brother off. It just doesn't sit right with me. Especially when I'm starting to warm to her (I especially like how even she's fed up with the tedious large expanse of water > Find a pallet > Funnel Ellie from one side to the other sections - "Ellie, I need you to-" "I know, I know, step on the strawberry floating pallet...") - He should be too.

I assumed it was a don't get involved, don't get hurt kind of thing. Plus he's not really up for tracking around the country for something he doesn't care about when there's a good chance he's going to die doing it.

But by that point he's already very much involved with the whole thing (Tess already died trying to keep Ellie safe). Why give up after everything you've already gone through?

That happening just proves his whole view that he's been forced into something he doesn't want to do and it's not worth the hassle.

So why doesn't he broom her there and then? That whole debate would have worked towards the start of the game, but when they've spent literally months bonding it's completely out of place.

I think it's more, by that point, that they have bonded and he doesn't want to be to attached as he doesn't want to lose another person he cares about. Well, something to that effect.

Frank, it's a classic tale of "I don't want to be responsible for you at first but now I love you." You should know, you've seen plenty of films like that. :slol:

I appreciate that they're still supporting it this far on but I can't see myself going back to it for more than a play here or there unless they add something significant to the game world or a new game mode to mix up the play significantly.

I played it a bit last night and it's still pretty busy. Shame most people are garbage at it, though.

Just finished the Winter section.

How could anyone possibly think this is anything even approaching Game of the Year after that? That whole chunk of game was an absolute chore. No weapons, no visibility, stupid horde mode sections, tedious boss fight. Jesus. Christ.

Hoping the next bit gets a little better.

Not sure if serious .jpg

The whole section is superb, brilliantly tense. Constant sense of threat from vulnerable Ellie. The boss fight is a great stealth battle that works without breaking its own game rules unlike some games.

The anger in Joel searching, the reduced visability I see as a metaphor for his blind rage!

Brilliant.

Got to say I'm really not feeling this so far, story and graphics are superb but the gameplay is just a bit dull.

For me it really kicked in after you reached the Town Hall, with Bill's Town soon after. I can't wait to replay this again.

Yeah because combat is the one thing that Naughty Dog have always done well.

Your still early, stick with it and hopefully it will reward you. Most people are pretty meh early on but like the journey Joel takes you start indifferent but grow to love Ellie and the journey itself.
