The Oscars 2018 - 90th Academy Awards

I think my favourite thing this year was that ex-Hollyoaks actress winning an Oscar for best short film.

Remember when Mandy from Hollyoaks was in The Dark Knight? Good times.

I don't really pay any attention to the Oscars (or similar yearly award ceremonies) as, call me cynical if you want, they are essentially just designed to promote whatever Hollywood has decided to be the big seller or "must see" film of the year.

I mean I think its okay to be cynical - but I think you're a little bit off with what they are trying to promote. Otherwise it'd be all the big blockbusters.

I didn't phrase that particularly well, what I meant was that awards like the Oscars are fairly meaningless and are often simply an exercise in "This film won an Oscar so it must be great - GO SEE IT!".

GdT's head will be the size of a bus after picking up that along with Best Director, when in my opinion he peaked over 10 years ago with Pan's Labyrinth!

Gary Oldman's award fully deserved, he was outstanding.

I liked The Shape of Water but it wasn't as good as 3 Billboards. I, Tonya though was better than both.
