UPSET!

Affleck is so awesome.  Holy gooseberry fool he was nervous during that speech. Babbling at 100mph.

Glad Affleck and Argo won the big one

Good show overall, the least boring one for a while. Seth McFarlane was pretty good too as expected, the Rhianna/Chris Brown gag

Going by the last five posts, Amour didn't win everything it was nominated for. What a strawberry floating shambles.

But if it won all the awards then it would be popular and you wouldn't be able to like it any more :?

You seem to have mistaken me for Cal, I'm not that much of a contrarian.

It got a token Best Foreign Film award. Which is unusual, because usually the hot favourite for that particular category rarely wins.

That award practically doesn't count anymore.

Loved the use of the Jaws theme to play off some of the winners

People actually watch the Academy Awards? :dread:

I thought they were just for providing footage of women crying.

Enjoy!

Thanks Chalkitdown and PsychicSykes for the links. Unfortunately I went to bed before I saw your posts!

How did a Adelle win with Skyfall? One of the most generic, dull bond themes I've ever heard. It seems they gave it to her just because she's Adelle. Don't get me wrong, she is a great singer, but going by the song itself she should never have won.

I too wondered that. It's pretty bland isn't it? Just saying Skyfall over and over again. Not heard the other nominations though, but like you say, I think it's a case of Americans loving Adelle so giving it to her purely because of who she is.

Got Argo to watch soon so looking forward to that. Sounds rather good.

Life of Pi must look amazing, as Django and Skyfall were shot beautifully I thought, especially the latter.

Hey, Meep. I was with you up until:

She's not. She (or whoever else writes songs for her) always end up including high notes that she just can't hit. See the last minute or so of the live version of Someone Like You from the BRITs a few years ago for a perfect example.

Roger Deakins not winning for cinematography was a crime but Life of Pi was a very beautifully shot film.
