Millions of leaked documents from the Panama law firm Mossack Fonseca reportedly revealed wealthy clients were able to shelter their money offshore over 40 years. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) as well as other tax authorities across the world have launched investigations into the explosive papers.
But Corbyn has gone one step further and suggested the UK could take the British Virgin Islands, where Mossack Fonseca apparently incorporated some companies, under direct control of the government.

Well I think he wants to negotiate a permanent settlement with Argentina, probably giving them some control of the oil fields rather than the Islands I'd speculate.
But BVI are already a British territory, he is just talking about imposing direct control from Westminster.
Both the Falklands and the BVI are British Overseas Territories.
I don't mind the idea of talking to Argentina about the Falklands, jaw jaw is better than war war after all. But the sovereignty of the islands is up to the islanders themselves, they overwhelmingly want to remain British and so they should remain.
From a quick bit of research, the BVI are a parliamentary democracy. Taking direct control of the BVI is a shocking idea, as with the Falklands my opinion is that the people themselves should decide how they are governed and that elected government can decide what financial system the islands adhere to.
Corbyn would be better of making a law that stops people shipping money off to tax havens rather than deciding to overthrow the democratic government of a group of islands. Sure they are small, but that doesn't mean they should just be walked over.
