Are there better options available in the same size and budget range?

Didn't buy it as there was no VESA mount on the back.

Ordered this instead (not from Amazon though)

Iiyama are good affordable monitors, they're typically used in schools where decent screen fidelity is needed. Every PC at arts uni had them.

After years of gaming on my PC via my Sofa and TV, I'm going to turn my Spare room into an Office/PC Game Room with PC/Desk/monitor setup, and I could do with some advice please. It'll be mostly used (99%) for Gaming:

- Is there a size of monitor that is best to go for? 24", 27", 32" or is it really down to personal taste?
- Resolution - I have a GTX1080, 16GB RAM, and an ok Processor, so my rig isn't really up to 4k Gaming just yet, (prob 2560×1440 at most) Am I best to buy a Monitor with a native 1140p Native res (does such a thing exist?) or it it best to go for a 4k capable monitor and then just run at 1140?
- Gsync, is it worth it? I am a stickler for Frame Rates and hate anything below 60fps.
- Monitors that can display above 60FPS, again is it worth it? never seen one in the flesh as my TV was limited to 60
- Any makes or brands I should be looking out for or avoiding?
- Any good deals at the moment I should be aware of?

basically, please help me buy a monitor...

Thanks muchly

I have the DELL - S2716DG Quad HD 27" LED Monitor

2556x1440 native res, 144hz refresh rate and it's a gsync. strawberry floating stunning picture and I love it. Really pricy but we'll worth it imo.

500 I think. I actually got a monitor half that price when I built my pc but I didn't like it, plus it had a fault so I sent it back and spent money on a really good one. I can take some photos of it later if you like? Very very nice.

Thanks AD, appreciate the offer yeah would be good to see it in place.

The other option is I go cheap and cheerful it for a little while, until I've saved up some more money. I also need to buy a desk and chair so trying to limit the budget.

Cheapest I've found so far is £420

https://www.itcsales.co.uk/acatalog/Dell-Monitor-S2716DG-27--LED-QHD-G-Sync-Y44M5-14918.html?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=Cj0KCQjwiqTNBRDVARIsAGsd9Mqy9nQiiBx2lLG4Pncyej1dCyw9PLTHyr8dGotSbjlgrSYJDeZd6v8aArRjEALw_wcB

One of the reasons I'm doing this is so I can set my Wheel/Stick and Vive up permanently so I can get back into Project Cars and Elite rather than fathing about each time.

Anyone looking to sell their monitors at the mo?

That HP laptop I bought as a temp substitute earlier this year is now proving to be a bit of a pain in the arse. Sometimes it doesn't even have the power to run YouTube video properly, and it can't multitask at all. It's basic to the extreme, but it's now rather frustrating.
Can you increase the RAM and change the hard drive for an SSD?

Yes?

Iiyama monitor all set up and working perfectly, had my old LG one (23" IPS) connected via DVI and this one connected via DisplayPort and while both monitors are the same resolution the difference in picture quality is immediately noticeable, text is sharper and black actually looks black (as opposed to dark grey).

We've been having some serious problems at work recently.

We all use Surface Pro 4 devices and some of us have Bitlocker running (out of choice) and others do not. Four members of the team who have never set Bitlocker up have suddenly had it forced upon their devices (we think after the recent Windows update) and do not know how to get past it launch (as a code was never set up). All of them have had to fully reset their devices to factory settings, and have even lost all their data that was associated with their cloud accounts (One Note etc).

Google doesn't quite seem to be coming up with anything that matches our experience here - some entries talked about Bitlocker ransomware, but this doesn't seem to fit the bill, and the solutions for that all require being logged in at the desktop that we cannot get to.

Any ideas?

I think I’m going to buy this this morning (as I reckon the price will rise rapidly since I found it on hotukdeals) - what do folk reckon? Look ok? I’ll be using it as a multi purpose machine, for work and a bit of light gaming. I know it’s probably not future proofed but I generally play about two games a year so not sure it’s worth the extra outlay for a 1050 series card:

Would’ve bought a desktop but I move round lots so not an option. £700 is my limit so will buy an external hard drive to go with it.

External hard drive is a fine idea, I have a 128gb SSD hacked into my MacBook and I have no trouble with programs etc installed on there.

I looked at about 20 other laptops on the same site from good brands and that does look like a very good deal. If you're not gaming it doesn't matter, I would suggest a dedicated graphics on any laptop all the same because it helps with things like video acelleration and a bit of Photoshop or video editing, which it has.

For your purposes it's fine, just check some reviews.

My only criticism would be its a little on the heavy side at 2.5kg

Thanks for that GG, ended up not going for it as work have now told me they'll send me out a laptop so figured it makes more sense to see how it runs before splashing out cash. Hopefully it's decent and i might just use the money to buy a switch instead..

Where's NoScript gone in Firefox? I used to right click and unlock certain aspects of a site, now it doesn't come up. I go into Ad-ons and Adblock Plus and NoScript are tagged as "Legacy". So what have they gone and done now... :x

I think the key is to not use Firefox.
