You really need to get a look at the BSOD message in order to run down what its telling you, it may be a memory problem or it could be something else.

I'll give Memtest a run and see what shows up with that but the thing is each BSOD message gives a different reason and like I said once it's happened and rebooted it won't do it again till it's turned off and back on again.

BSODs can happen for a variety of reasons

Ran Memtest with no errors, only done 1 pass. You don't need to do more right? 1 pass took nearly an hour

youre literally doing random things at the moment in the hope something works: take a picture of the BSOD screen and google it/post it here for us to google.

if you insist on trying random things then you can try re-seating all your hardware and giving everything a dusting; that often clears random/odd BSODs

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION is the stop code that's just happened after booting up my PC and starting a game (about 1 minute in to a Gears game) and now it's restarted I won't get a BSOD again until it's manually turned off and on.

check your hard drives

You should be able to find the log files for those crashes though I think. Look in Event Viewer and see what you can see.

EDIT - At least I think you can, its been a while since I've had to go looking on my PC.

So I've accidentally uninstalled Windows 10 and I don't have a recorvery disc. What do I do? The computer was previously Windows 7. Is there any way to restore it to factory settings or is the computer now OSless? Any options? I just need it to run something.

What specifically did you do?

Went to Reset Your PC in Windows 10 under the Recovery setting and it went through everything and Windows 10 restarted from scratch, but it said I needed to do it again as all personal files weren't removed (selling it). So I did. It's now saying there's no OS on the system and I'm greeted by a black screen. I have no disc for Windows 10 or 7.

You won't need a serial, just install windows and select the skip or activate later or whatever the option is, she it gets into Windows activation will be handled automatically.

Don't want to throw a spanner in the works, but the Windows 7 key doesn't always work with Windows 10. When we upgraded my wife's laptop to Windows 10, the normal method didn't work so I had to do a reinstall. Windows 7 key didn't work so I had to use a Windows 10 key from my MSDN subscription.

If it was upgraded via the free 10 upgrade you dont need the 7 key. The device will have an online entitlement that when it goes to activate will be assigned to it automatically.

We did upgrade using that but it screwed up. I thought the free upgrade was over so KK can't use his Windows 7 key?

When you upgraded it made an online entitlement, that is valid for the life of Windows 10, all you need to do to activate Windows 10 is install it on the machine and connect to the web Microsofts activation service will do the rest.

The 7 key activated Windows 7 when it was there at whenever, that was only used to determine if were entitled to a free upgrade, the 2 licenses are not linked.

Just install Windows 10 from a USB key created by the media creator and it will activate when it is online.
